Chrome F150 Emblems

Acetone is typically what's utilized but, to date, I'm not sure I've seen anyone in here talking about removing the black paint from the new body style emblems...
I can assure you that if you do a site search for acetone emblems, you'll get a BUNCH of hits... but, being that it's the new badge, you may wait to confirm this with the other folks here...

Use brake cleaner in the spray can. It sprays the black right off the chrome. Immediately wash them off and they will be all chrome. Then just re-apply the badges with fresh 3M molding tape. Worked great for me!

Guess im green so im going to ask. How do you get the badges off to spray them with the brake cleaner? Can you leave them on and do it?

Many use a heat gun to loosen the backing, then I took a plastic credit card and just pried them off. Then you have the task of scraping the remaining gunk off without scratching the the paint. I had a few scratches, but they were covered when I put the badges back on.
