Nice pictures. The perch on the strut doesn't really look higher than the stock strut, contrary to what we heard. I wonder if you could put a sleeve-type spacer there to provide a lift...

Nice job, but you really should of got a leveling kit while you had everything apart.

Can you buy a black boot for them?

Rockpick;

They felt cold when I was putting them on. Oh the ride? They are worlds better than the stock FX4 dampers. Much smoother on all surfaces. I would most certainly spend the money again on these shocks. Got them on eshocks.com, they came from a Don's Offroad something up north. Got them in about 2 days even. Be sure to use a heavy compressor. I got mine at Advance Auto Parts for $29. Put antiseize on the threads and it worked fine.

I chose not to level because I like the stance as is, and often haul motorcycles and pull a pontoon boat.

The shop guy fed me the line about the height thing ... sort of weird? Whatever ... I believed him due to the other hight claims read!

I spent some time and also couldn't measure any difference but my bilsteins were mounted during my measuring attempts.

Good stuff! And I thought the ride couldn't get much better!!!

Your Pops King Ranch looks awsome! I love those trucks! Your FX4 looks awsome too. I cant believe people actually spend money on a truck other then a ford. I guess its ones of those many wonders of the world.

Hey I just saw the pictures of the bilstein installation. I was just wondering why the boot on the rear shocks was on the bottom instead of the top? Are they supposed to be that way? It looks kind of odd, I have never seen a shock with the boot on the bottom. Well if they are supposed to go on like that I am still going to buy them regardless due to all the great things I hear about this shock upgrade. Thanks

Ok, you've convinced me as well. A few questions.

1.) Have you driven over any washboard roads, and how much did it improve it?

2.) Can you give me the part number? I've found 2 different ones that look similar to the ones you have pictures of and want to make sure I get the same thing you have.

3.) Did you, or do you now need an alignment at all? Does Bilstein recommend one after installation? I know it didn't change the ride height, but want to make double sure as there is not a good shop in my town for alignments.

Thanks both to you and to Red Wing Nut (Av's Rule) for your posts on these. I think you each hit a homer with this mod!

Oh yeah! Thanks to 1brannon1 too.

I will try to post a link to the site where I ordered the shocks.

They make a huge diference in ride quality on all surfaces. They seem to cut out the early morning flat spotting for the first mile or so. I can't feel this anymore. The chassis seems much more settled and less nervous. The rear is stuck to the road better when hitting RR tracks, potholes, etc.

I did not worry with front end alignment. Saw no change in height or attitude so no need for realignment.

Here, hopefully is the link.........
