Fuel Gauge Accuracy

Fuel Gauge Accuracy
Is anyone else having trouble with their fuel gauges? Sometimes after I fill up and start the truck the gauge doesn't go back to the full position, it stays down towards empty. Other times there's no problem at all. Also, my gauge doesn't go down gradually as I drive. For example, I'll be right at the full position when I stop and turn off the truck. Then when I start it again the gauge jumps down to 3/4 of a tank. Are you all having the same experience? What exactly is reading the fuel level in the tank? Is it some sort of sensor or float or what? I'm just debating whether to have it looked at or not.

You need to take the key out of the ignition each and every time you refuel. I repeat take the key out of the ignition when refueling
I had the same problem when I first got mine 'til I was told too
take the key out every time and i've never had a problem since..
I'm not exacty sure why BUT since it seems to work I'm not
even gonna bother to ask .......
and I too have the gauge not going down scenario but whatever
the gauge reads after restart is what i consider my level too be ?
