Radio volume going up??

I thought it was my imagination when I go onto the highway with my radio on and it always seems like I had to turn it down as soon as I got to speed but I never remembered having the radio as loud as it was when I got onto the highway. I figured out today that its not my imagination and that the radio actually does get louder as you increase your speed! I never even knew our trucks had this feature at all!??
I’d rather be in control of how loud I want my music, so is there anyway to just turn the feature off that raises that volume as you get onto the highway? I looked through the menu on the screen, but didn’t see anything yet to turn it off. What should I look for? Thanks for the help!

There is an option in the menu, I think it was speed control or something to that effect, I think it was one of the last options. I noticed with my stock unit every once and a while it would get real loud for a second or two when I came to a stop, but for the most part it never realy worked that well. I just nixed it for an aftermarket system.

In your owners manual, or scroll through the menus on the radio and look for speed or speed gain or something like that. It is adjustible, but the default was also to much for my taste. You can set it from 0 to 9 or 10. I thought 3 was about right.

I miss this feature in my aftermarket head unit.

I love that feature, though I have to have it set to the max sensitivity for me to notice the difference.

That makes two of us.

Not to jack the thread but does the dimmer feature still work with aftermarket head units? Im starting to think I messed up some where with the wiring.

I've installed many aftermarket headunits in my past cars and friends cars and I could never get the dimmer feature to work with them. Even when using the wiring harness adapters to install them. I don't know why???

My owners manual doesnt say much about this feature. So how does it work?, does a higher setting number mean you need more speed for the volume to come up to where it was set, or does it relate to the volume level at a set speed?

Higher setting number means the music gets louder. I have mine set on 4. It works for both my wife and myself.

Mine goes up to 7. Usually only turn it on when im on the highway with all the windows down. Having the wind and the Humming from the MT/R's drains out the radio right away.
