Removing AirRaid.....

I installed my AirRaid and yeah it seems to help....

The "Moan" is more than I can tolerate.

Even a good exhaust would not cover the noise. My AirRaid on the '01 Supercrew wasn't near as noisy.

I like performance but within a reasonable tone. This just seems obnoxious. It's OK cruising but when it's WOT it sure makes a racket. Maybe I'm just gettin' old.

Oh well, live and learn.

I can't really answer that question.

Forum rules.

If someone wants to sell anything it would be posted in the classifieds

Your following forums rules, but you have to post a useless thread on how you dont like the sound of your air raid, we have plenty of threads on hp vs. sound already.

I bet the new Air Force 1 for the 5.4 3 valve isn't noisy.

Yes, they are very quiet indeed. In fact, they make no noise at all. Definitely the best mod you CAN'T BUY.

I thought the "new" AirRaid is supposed to be quieter than the old tube design......

The "new" Airaid tube is DEFINATELY quieter than the old design, as I have had both. The old one moaned quite a bit, but you can hardly hear the new design.

Canyonslicker, to check which design you have, you need to check the intake tube near the throttle body right before the MAF Sensor. On the "old" tube design, there is an indent int he tube on the side of it right before the MAF sensor. On the "new" tube design the indent is on the bottom of the intake tube right near the MAF Sensor. It runs the width of the tube. Check your tube and find out which one you have. If you have the "new" version your hearing must be much more sensitive than mine cause I can't hear it at all anymore. If you have the "old" tube design, I would think maybe just contact airaid and see if they can send you the new updated tube because you are not satisfied with the old one. I hope I was able to help.

canyonslicker,
I'd be interested in hearing which one you currently have as I am interested in an intake but really don't want too much moan & drone either

thanks,
Evan

I had my Magnaflow catback exhaust first. Then I added the Airaid (new design) intake. I did not hear any additional noise from the Airaid, and it seemed to slightly mellow out my exhaust tone.

So because it's not what you think is useful, it's useless?

FYI, I already rec'd useful feedback. Not interested buyers but some useful comments. I was not fishing for buyers, I was trying to add comments that may help someones decision on a major purchase. That is part of what this forum is all about.

So do I email my posts to you in the future to get the OK before posting? I think.... NOT!!!!

You can always try those pre-filters to see if it quites the intake.
