Daytime Running Lights . .

No, not required in the US. I live in the Communist Peoples Republic of NJ so my insurance in ridiculously high.
I installed DTRL's for $250 & knocked $300 a year off my premium. In effect, they paid for themselves before I left the service deptartment. I hate DTRL's simply because they take away an advantage from motorcyle's but I will do just about anything to lower my insurance in the CPRoNJ... Don't know if it applies in Canada but it's something to look into.
KC-10 FE out...

Liability would be, though, if it can be shown that the lack of running lights was a factor in a collision, I presume . .

I moved here over twenty years ago when it was still the sticks, now we've become over-developed, and an another appendage of TO like Brampton and Mississauga. .
