Air Force One and Stage One combo

All,
I just got an e-mail from Troyer. Anita said they can package an Air Forice 1 and duel rear exit magnaflows with a Stage 1 kit (dropping out the Air Raid) for a pretty small fee. You'll have to contact Anita directly to get the price.

Here's the link to the Stage 1 kit:

Or you can go with an S/C and get 160-175 HP for $3500-$5500

ONLY $20 - $34 / per HP

Looks like Turbo is the way to go. Oh yeah, nobody makes one for the 5.4 3V yet.

Any choice to get rid of lag and improve performance =

nitrous, run a progressive 50 shot for around 500-600 bucks

only wear on the engine when your using it and not like a SC when it will but wear on the engine all the time, and the turbo sounds better, higherrpm = more boost, less wear when just cruising

Hmm, Nitrous huh? I hadn't thought of that option. Use it just for just the occational steep hill when I'm towing. Interesting...

I dont think that a shot of nitrous under a load like that would be a good idea. You might want to ask someone in the aftermarket forum if your thinking about it. I dont want to sound like an as$, i just dont want you breaking anything.

LOL nitous under a load wouldnt be good, most nitrous kits have a WOT switch so i dont assume you will be towing a trailer and have the accel @ WOT

Cool XCAL2 Info

purpony,

The release date is not known, nor is the price. The XCAL2 has some datalogging capabilities (that are probably beyond what I will really use / need). Since the XCAL2 is close to release, I am going to wait and see the price before I decide . If I ever get a chance to call Troyers during the day, I plan on asking their advice for what I really need for my application (which is really just some more "gee-whiz", seat-of-the-pants acceleration). There are no drag strips or dynos in the near future of my nearly 3-ton truck.

Here are some links to some info on XCAL2:

XCAL2 Release Info

Mike Troyer said he will announce the XCAL2 release date and retail price in the Chips & Programming Forum when they become available.

Hope these help.

Has anyone done the Stage One kit from Troyer and was there a big difference? I know a lot of people have done the kit in steps but has anyone done the complete kit all at once and then when out for a drive?

I have also read that it can scan the OBDII codes too (can't seem to find WHERE I read that). That isn't really a big selling point for me since I have a Scangauge.

I am just waiting to see the capabilities and price...

asinatra,

I hadn't thought much about a shot of nitrous. I don't plan on going to the drag strip or street racing. Just need a little better throttle response and better sound from my truck.

I agree with you about the nitrous - probably not a good idea under a heavy load (towing).
