More Opinions! - Free bed rails....

Well my friend had same old bed rails off his truck i decided to fix up for the heck of it. They were chrome with a little bit of rust. I sanded them down real good and painted them with some high -heat paint thats actually pretty hard to chip. I did this knowing that i probably would keep them but was just curious what they might look like. What do you guys think?

PS - The pics are a little dark because the battery was low so i didnt have a flash.

THANKS!

LOL..... Yeah I agree, if I could find another one it might look even better. JK, I was just trying it on for size.

It a flat black, its actually grill or muffler paint and it actually matches the plastic trim along the bed pretty nicely. I ment to take a close up but I was suprised at how nicely they cleaned up which is why im now actually considering them.

It looks good. On your red truck everything does, but still it is nice.
Have you priced them yet?

Just a suggestion, I would match them up with the bright step boards.

Actually if I do end up keeping them then I was going to consider painting the nerf bars to match.... though it would probably be hard for me to bring myself to paint anything on my truck from the factory....

then take them to a body shop to paint ALL the pieces the same colour. You could also take the rails to a chroming shop to match the factory chromed pieces.

Either way, its a nice look.

Congrats!

I think they look good.

The paint you used though will fade VERY QUICKLY. If you can't afford to have them profesionally done. take some more steps.

Maybe if you clear coated the rails, it would prevent the fadeing so quick.

Your rig looks good.

Heres the final product after I got the other one and actually installed them.

As for the fading.... I used this same stuff on a huge bar-b-q pit about a year ago and it hasnt faded as far as i know. If they do then I will just take them off.

There a part number anywhere on those?
That really looks good. Sporty, without loosing function.
Chris
(one thing, you might check around for some black, flat torx or allen head bolts. I think it would look even better.)

Certainly a good enough price. I would consider powder coating them to match the nerf bars...Kevin

Yeah I might paint the bolts too... I have no idea where I could find a part number. Like I said i got these from a friend who actually had them on his 2000 model. I had thoughts about just taking the nerf bars off completely. Im personally not a big chrome guy and the main reason I still have them is because my girlfriend thinks its ahrd enough to get into as it is.
