Granatelli MAF

Anyone using a performance MAF sensor for their 4.6? Seems like a lot of $$$ so I wanted to know if anyone else has one and what they like/dislike? Thanks.

Useless on a stock engine, maybe if you were pegging the MAF or something

to my understanding, it flows more air but tricks the pcm into thinking it is running lean to get the extra horsepower out of it, i had one on my 03 5.4 and it seemed to give me some hp, but it causes my engine to run alittle lean and i didnt like that so i went with a lightning maf, good luck

Those MAFs are useless on stock engines. You need a chip or tune to use them.

actualy no you dont, the maf is calabrated for the increased airflow, and it tricks the engine into running alittle bit leaner but no tune is required, i know this becuase i have used it

thats why u run lean, because the PCM doesnt recognize it. Lots of ppl upgrade to lightning MAFs but u need a tune to use it or you run lean. A lot of tbird guys upgrade to 02 GT MAFs because of the transfer function, but if u dont tune for it, itll run lean.

yes with the lightning mafs you need a tune, i know this because i also have one of them on my truck also, the grenateli maf is cal for the pcm and the pcm recognizes it and it does not run lean enough to throw a code (pcm can adjust feul 20% with stock 19 pound inj) running the engine leaner but still within the engine pcm adjusting curve is just a way for it to gain some horses, it does not need any chip or tune to function or to produce a hp trq gain, nough said

i still believe its bull hooey, that they say u dont need a chip or tune to use the maf. Any MAF other than stock most of the time requires a tune or a chip to really use it. Im not a big fan of changing MAFs without getting a chip for it, regardless if its replacing it with another OEM type piece or aftermarket.

balieve what you want ,but i know for a fact because i have used it, i have used the grenateli for awile till i uprgraded my injectors and put on a 90 mm lightning maf that yes requires a tune because it was not designed for my truck, the grenateli was designed for my truck and hence requires no tune,
