I don't believe that anymore... the old FX4 trim package actually had Rancho shocks... now crawl underneath a FX3½ and take a gander... I sure don't see no Rancho's...

either that or the instrument cluster, i hear the different instrument cluster they put in the fx4 is heavier than the rest of them and that throws off the balance of the truck and makes the suspension stiffer.

ACTUALLY you are both wrong, everyone with half a brain knows that it's the aero-dynamic downforce caused by the FX4 Skid plate that causes the rough ride! Duh!

I thought everyone knew it was the shocks that caused the different ride on the FX4.

BTW Ragged05FX4 a lot of other models also have the skid plates as optional equipment. Just like my Lariat!

I think the not-so-smooth ride is common in all the 4x4's be it an FX4, Lariat, KR, & XLT. While I have no tech to back it up, I do think that the 4x4's have slightly stiffer springs and shocks up front. I noticed that 4x2's tend to nose dive a little to quickly when braking more than the 4x4's.

Cry me a river loser. It's a dumb thread and if you haven't noticed there are 20 other sarcastic replies... not my fault I'm the first and most witty. Way to come to the rescue 8hrs to late.

This just made my night. Gotta love threads like these. Waait...does it have something to do with the painted bumpers? WAIT...my lariat has those too. lol jk. I had to be a smartazz like the other 20.

It would be due to the heavier rancho shocks and little stiffer suspension i believe.

Wrong,

Many trucks are different heights due to the tolerances aloud in building these trucks. This has been discussed many times before. My Lariat on stock wheels is taller than a friend's FX4 doesn't mean all Lariats are going to be like this.

Thumper I looked at both of our books that came with our trucks The FX4 SCREW and the LARIAT SCREW both have the same height Iam happy i bought a LARIAT because i measured the height of the door opening Now if i would have bought FX4 it would not fit height wise

Its gotta be the bar style grille. It is much heavier than the honeycomb style and it makes the front end heavier. This causes the front end to sag (thats why they make autospring and daystar), this in turn causes the stiffer ride.

I cant believe you guys didnt know this
