Installing AMI-All Sales Locking gas door . HELP!
I have just bought a ami All Sales locking gas door and it will be at my house tomorrow and i was wondering if any one has installed one and how the little lock part is installed. In the instructions it said to put the lock part in the hole where the rubber bump is I took the rubber bump off but there is no way i can get my arm in the back to put the nut on the back part so I was wondering if you can take the black ring off thats around the gas cap with the three screws that are there and put it in that way but i have know idea . I need help asap because I am getting it tommorrow and thats the only time I have to put it on this week. Thanks for every ones help

I guess you got to find a 6' 3" skinny guy like me. It's a real pain getting
that nut on. I use one of my portable lights on top of the tire so I could
see what I was doing. Having a really good light helps. The bolt on the
back of the little lock part is actually about an 1" - 1 1/2" long so you
can get at it. Once you get it on its not bad getting it tighten down with a
wrench. Don't overthighten or else you'll break the plastic spacer.
The plastic black part arount the gas receptacle doesn't come off very easy.
Better off finding someone that could reach up there.
I also had to grind down the lip of the latch to get it do seat right when
you engaged the lock. Hopefully, the manufacturers got that little bug
worked out of the current gas doors they're shipping out.
Good Luck

Ditto for my install.
You can barely reach up inside the fenderwell to put the baby nut on and finger tighten it. I tried to get a socket or pliers up there to get it real tight, but had no luck. The star washer should keep it tight anyway.
I also took my Dremel and whittled a very small portion of the plastic lip to enable the lock to work without binding, you can then ever so slightly bend the tab with pliers to ensure a rattle free latch.
I really like the locking door and the look even tho it was a PIA to install....

well i just got it installed after 40mins of work its done and it looks great. I thought the hardest part was going to put the nut on the back of that lock housing but that was easy . The hardest part was getting the door to shut and lock so i could take the key out I had to take the lock off and use a grinder on it then it finally worked great . It was so worth the work it looks great and no won can steal my gas . Ill try to put up pics after so everyone can see . also just so everyone know the customer sevice at ALL SALES is the best they are great. Again thanks for evey bodys help.
