8Ft boxs rule, I'm sorry, but a 6.5 short box is a 6.5 ft short box...For the price of a super crew, extended cab, I buy a car if I need to haul people...77 LTD country squire with the fake paneling, and it has to be green....I have had over 3/4 of a tone in my truck ( tires up graded ) but it's a work truck...and a reg cab with a 8 ft box...

I wanted a truck like that. X cab, long bed 7700 package. When I drove it though it was just too fricken big.

Your truck looks good level, now paint the wheels black.

Good point. The bed is a foot and a half shorter but wouldn't the "Crew" cab be a foot and a half longer than the extended cab? See what I am getting at? Should add up to 163 inch as well?
Can anyone answer this for sure?

An '04-05 F-150 crewcab 5.5ft bed has a 138.5" wheelbase and measures 224" in length. For comparison, a Suburban/YukonXL is 130" and 219", respectively. And a Mini Cooper is 97.1" and 143.9".

The difference between the SCREW and SCAB is only 6 inches. According to Fords website the '06 SCREW 6.5' has a wheelbase of 150.5 with an overall length of 235.8.

So a Screw only has a 5.5 bed. To quote Johnny Carson - "I did not know that." I was thinking it was a 6.5.
So am I to assume Ford only uses the 163 inch wheelbase to build a supercab/8 foot box combo like I have? I thought they would be using it for some other combination as well. thanks

Previous to '06 the SCREW only had a 5.5' bed. There is an 6.5' bed option in '06, however it only has an wheelbase 150.5" not 163". The 8' SCAB is the only F150 that is built on the 163" wheelbase.

And now I know, and knowing is half the battle....

FYI, I think they build a few Ford school busses on that frame as well.

Next mod, a "bet mine's longer than your's" bumper sticker.

Sorry, I'm finished now.

Question

Thanks guys, Good info and a few laughs.....
But this has taken me to a new thought. My 163 wheelbase truck is rated at 8200 lbs GVW. Is this the only F-150 with that high of a rating?

Do they make an F-150 Heavy Duty with an 8ft box? If so, that's probably your winner...

Mine's a regular cab 8200 long-bed work truck with a plastic floor and the ugly seven lug wheels.

I need the measurement from the pavement to the top of the wheel well arches in front. I want to see if the plow sagged my springs. Can anyone with an 8200 help me with this?

I wonder how that truck would look with a 6 inch lift.
