Question on auto-headlight sensor

Where is the auto-lamp sensor located? I want to slightly shield it to make it a little bit more sensitive (i.e., turn the lights on a little earlier as it gets dark out).

I always thought the same but when I've completely covered it with my hand nothing happens...

Really don't want to mess with the electronics

(it's a leased vehicle). Just hoping to put a shield over it to reduce the amount of ambient light hitting it (thus making it "turn on" sooner).

You have to cover it for a few seconds...it is on a time delay so if you were to drive under a bridge or something real quick, the lights won't pop on.

mine turn on every time I pull into my carport and shut off my truck. If I'm making several short errands, I end up turning them off manually so they don't run my battery down.

But if mine were not sensitive enough, I might put a piece of semi-clear tape over the sensor.

So that blinking red light

is both the anti-theft light and the autolamp sensor in one, huh?

Ok, tomorrow I'll try slightly obscuring it. It's going to rain again, so should be a good test. Usually if it's raining it's not dark enough to turn the lights on... and I like the idea of never having to turn them on or off.
