I ordered my 2006 on 10/7/05 as of today, 10/27/05, (almost 3 weeks since ordering) the dealer tells me that there is still no build date yet.

I ordered mine sometime in late September (sorry, I can't remember the exact date). I ordered a Red FX4 SuperCrew w/ 20's, moonroof, audiophile, reverse sensors, black leather capt chairs... and a few other things.

I called earlier this week and they said "the frame wouldn't be set until the first week in November" (whatever that exactly means) and "it should be in the first week of December"...

That seems like a long time - but they told me 8 weeks when I ordered it. They also said that since they can only get a certain amount with the 20's, it may take longer. Real dumb. ;-)

Anyway, the only thing that I'm kinda bummed about is that I know once I get it, the fuel efficient V8 and the FX4 Luxury package will be available to order. The only thing I'd really want to get would be climate control - I could care less about heated seats. Anyway, the fuel efficient V8 would be very nice too. Oh well, the truck should still be "pretty cool..." (kidding, my wife and I are VERY excited to get it... it's been lonely without my '02 SuperCrew).

Anyway, we should keep this thread going to keep everyone up to date on '06 orders... more of us have ordered '06's than I though. VERY COOL! (any other red '06 FX4 Supecrew orders out there?)

dakota,

My dealer did not give me an order number, but the saleman is a good friend of mine so he checks on it for me every few days.

I also ordered a Lariat that is Smokestone over Az. Beige, it will also have Black interior.

Got an update this morning (10/28) from my salesman, the truck is now serialized and submitted to the plant, but there still is no build or ETA date yet.

dakota,

Basically, the engine shuts off 4 cylinders when they are not needed. It's similar to other engines out there... I think some of the Chrysler engines do that (probably others too that I'm not aware of). They say you get "up do 20%" fuel efficiency, but it may not be that spectacular... probably just nice to have.

Smokestone looks AWESOME in person... pictures don't do it justice. People saying the pictures makes it look pink or purple need to see it in person to get a better perspective.

I should probably call my fleet rep again and find out more specific info... like the actual order date (I just can't remember what it was).

Anyway... here's hoping it comes in early December!

The dealership I worked for usually needed 8-10 weeks to get a custom vehicle ordered. Some of the bigger dealers seemed to get vehicles in faster.

Are you serious? I've heard nothing of this for the 5.4. All I've heard about is the FFV designation allowing it to burn E85. I'm planning to order by 2006 around Christmas, and would LOVE to have Ford's version of MDS/DOD/whatever Ford chooses as an acronym. The current 5.4 does still get better fuel economy than a Hemi Ram with MDS!
