thought about water temp and oil temp.......decided i wanted to keep an eye on the charging system for now when i tow. if tranny temps are getting hot i am sure the oil and water are also. the cooling system seems pretty good overall, so i went voltmeter.....

That makes sense. I read one of your other posts. Did you figure out a way to monitor the charge going to your TT?

yes and no. it should be the same reading or close that i have at the gauge...also the last tt i had had a led readout on the battery level....and if i ever have a concern i can take a multimeter to the rear factory 7 pin to see how it is working. so does this kinda answer your ? ?
i am not an electrical guru, was originally looking for advise on how to do it the way you mentioned. after talking with a friend i went this way.

Yes, sound like a good idea though. Anyhow, thanks for the great post on the gauges. I just did the Code Alarm Gold install and the wife is a little jealous of my new remote start. Need to keep a low profile for a while. So the guage project will have to wait a while.

You can buy more of the same sensors and install them to measuer oil/water/tranny etc. Just have a switch to change in between them all.
