Did you get any measurements to where you set your collier. I have been told that 1.25 from the bottom of the Collier to the bottom of the threads. I just wanted to see if you had the same lift result as the rest of the members.

I will take some for you. I am extremely pleased so far with them also. I have my 33's on now and I will get some pics and measurements posted soon. The weather here stinks right now so give unitl tomorrow if possible and I will get the measuerments. How high are you looking for? 2" total lift?

Mojoe and others,

I called skyjacker today about the lift and rancho about shocks. Rancho gave me the part # for their rear shocks rs9000x made for the 4" lift because the guy told me that the ones made for 0-2" lift were for front only. The part # he gave is RS99287. Then I called skyjacker and asked if this shock would work given the specs:

Rancho rs9000x compressed: 18.5" Extended: 30.5"
Skyjacker platinum 9000 compressed: 17.3" Extended: 29.8"

So the skyjacker guy basically said I could run the rancho shock, but that there would be a point where the rear shocks would bottom out when compressed and it could damage the shocks, otherwise things would be fine. You can see the difference in size between the 2 brands. The odd thing is, that on most websites that sell the platinums, it says they are for rear lifts 3-6". I will be running the skyjacker 3" lift, but it is said to only raise 1.5" in the rear. I asked him personally if he would run the skyjacker platinums on the rear given that I am only going to take the truck offroad occasionally and mostly on the highway. He said given that, that he would not get the platinums in the rear for mostly on road use. But there could possibly be the occasional tow w/ the truck and also if I ever put a heavy load in the bed, I don't want to be concerned about the shocks 'bottoming out' or anything. What do you guys think? Got any recommendations?

I want 2 or may be just a little more. I want just a little sweep so if I load my bed I do not sit high in the front. The 2.5 would be nice but I just worried that the a arm would hit. I do not think any one has tried the full amount with the racnhos.

Mine went up 1.75 inches with it set 1.35 inches on the collar. I measured before mounting them with the shock standing upright from the bottom of the shock (ground) to the lowest part of the spring seat (the poly/rubber spring plate) which ended up being 10 inches. The factory spring seat sat 9 inches measuring like this. Hopefully this makes sense. I will have pics in my gallery soon... The new 285's made a huge difference.

MoJo I am thinking of doing the front ranchos my self to save money. What parts do you need to take loose to get the front coil over shock out? People told me the cheaper coil compressors can be dangerous, but if I use two sets like you did, I think I can do it without hurting myself.

Mine came from Advance Auto, like $45 a set. They worked fine for me with no worries. If you do not feel comfortable with that, just take the shocks out and go to a shop to have them swapped. This will also save ya some time and money this way. Not to often will you use the compressors again, I do side work for friends that require me to use them every now and then, mine have paid for themselves multiple times over.

What parts do you need to take loose in order to get the coil-over shock out. I never had a spacer lift so I do not know what it takes. I have a little time before I can do it because I had to send my front shocks back to summit due to they were not adjusting right.

You will want to knock loose the top ball joint, the steering linkage, and the swaybar links. There are 3 nuts on the top of the shock, and one large nut/bolt on the bottom.

Just do a search for the autospring installation instructions. It even has pics...

Mojoe,

How ya like'n them New Adjustable Rancho's? Any drawbacks or mechanical problems rubbing etc..?

2 more questions:
1. How is the ride in comparison to the stock shocks? be honest..

2. Do they recommend a alignment after installation ?

Awesome ride and handling improvements. I run setting 5 front and 3 rear.

Any drawbacks or mechanical problems rubbing etc..?
None so far, my angles are fine on the ball joints and CV's with a little less than 2 inches of lift.

How is the ride in comparison to the stock shocks?
Much smoother. I am only lifted 1.75 inches in the front, so it is not stiff at all. 100% better IMHO

Do they recommend a alignment after installation ?
Always after altering the front end geometry. It will not be bad, but still needs it.
