Stock tires suck in snow!

Anyone else think the stock BFG's are crap in snow?

What is a good replacement for all season driving?

My stock BFG's are just fine in the snow, the truck is not going to be perfect. Do you have limited slip? That will make just about any tire seem crappy in the snow in 4x2. But I will be getting BFG AT KO next year before the winter!

600lbs of bagged gravel & my stock BFG Radial Long Trail's do just fine in the snow, even with the LS.

KC-10 FE out...

So limited slip is bad for snow now? Learn something new every day...

What I think he means is that IF you didnt have LS, that would make every tire seem like crap. Obviously LS helps in the slow.

What I meant was if you have the limited slip, the truck will fishtail and swing out much easier in two wheel drive, which makes it seem like the tires suck in the snow. That is what I meant. I would much rather have the limited slip for the snow. It is soo much better for forward traction, but I find the rear end of my truck much more likely to swing out and fishtail with the LS. Thats all, wasn't saying limited slip was bad for snow......

I like the Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo's: so far had them in just one snow here and they were light years ahead of my stock ones [Generals]. Only problem is they don't make them in an 18" and I don't know if that is what you have.

I'm not sure how the stock bfg's do in the snow, I didn't have them on long enough to find out. They just LOOKED like they would not handle very well in the snow, so I ended up replacing them with 35" bfg Mud Terrains. EXCELLENT in the snow so far! I have a hard time kicking the back end out even with the LS. I even tried doing a donut in an empty parking lot (my old 2wd regular cab shortbed toyota would spin nuts like MAD) and about 3/4 of the way around the tire dug through the snow and hit pavement! Great tire IMHO.

I have managed to do 2 spinouts since I bought my truck two years ago. They happened on the same day and I was towing a trailer. Going about 30 mph and lost it. Hopped a median and the trailer was in the oncoming traffic lane and I was 90 degrees different from my lane of traffic after all was said and done. Talk about a scary feeling.

I find myself running in 4wd even when it's a dusting because of the fear of loosing the back end of the truck.

I didn't think they were that bad in the snow when they were new. but now I'm at only 16k miles and they are worn down bad, and last week we had some snow and I spinned some in 2wd. I'm going to the dealer in a few weeks to see if I can get new tires for free under the extended tire warranty.

Stock tires DO SUCK!

Thanks guys.
Yep got the LS. Actually I may have a problem with my 4X4 system disengaging sometimes. I'll turn a corner in 4X4 and all of a sudden the rear end comes way out. Then a clunk, and then the front end pushes, shutters like hell and then finally hooks up. I don't get it. Maybee back to the dealer soon!
In any event new tires are on the list!!!

I got around last winter on my Stock Hankooks, but it sucked. Yes, they are a street tire... but a pathetic excuse for one.

Im riding on another stock tire.. 265/60/18 BFG.... I'll keep these through winter, then Im getting a REAL street tire... Dunno which yet.. Leaning toward 255/55/18 or 295/45/18.
