Wait until I tell the guys when most come back from college for winter break. LOL Most are going to want to race. Especially this one kid in my town that thinks his F250 6 Speed 5.4 is the only truck to have. I'm sure I'll have more to post on this subject when I find out how mad they get when I tell them their trucks are slow.

Thanks,

The 3V motors actually make more power down low than the 2V. The 3V is making 300ft-lb by 1800rpm, the 2V doesn't make 300ft-lb until 2000rpm. If you look at the torque curve for both engines the 3V makes more all across the board. The 3V heads breathe much better at higher rpms than the 2V do, plus the 3V has phased cams so you have much more top end power. I think because our trucks are much quieter than the previous version, we think that they are slow.

5.4 3v

[QUOTE=silverbullet5.4]Did you not read the above post. 40HP sounds nice on paper, but the RPM's that the 40HP comes in defeats the purpose. We are racing on paper here, you are forgetting the variables concerning the engine management on the new F150 which prevents "300hp" from even coming into discussion. Stock for stock, the 5.4 2V superduty worktruck I drive will own my 05 5.4 3V, I have no reason to be biased.[/QUOT
My wife just gave me my early christmas present today. A brand spanking new 2006 F-150 supercab, complete with a 5.4 v3 V8. have to say I love my truck.

After the race I had a new appreciation for the 04 cause it destroyed the 2000. The 04 feels slower for some reason, but is actually faster. Weird, but true, maybe its the quietness or the smoothness, I dunno. :thumbsup:

As for the superduty, you will kill it. I raced a F350 PSD from light to light up to about 60mph, I lost, but only by half a truck length. A 2V F250 wouldn't stand a chance. Go shut em up.

Its actually the seats....the older trucks have stiffer, firmer seats......the firmer seats make the truck feel like its moving?accelerating faster.....dodge does tha crap in cars to make them feel faster than the competition......friend of mine has a brand new neon and i drove it and it FEELS way faster than my explorer.....her seats are stiffer than mine....but ill stomp her p.o.s. dodge every time from 0 to top end with 2 school bus lenghts in difference......so you cant really butt dyno cars against one another......i know this argument sounds way out there but its been looked into....i've even seen it on one of the car shows on TV.

Soft seats make it feel faster huh?
My 2000 had the sport package cloth seats which were very soft, especially compared to the hard leather ones in my 04'. I would have guessed the opposite.

No, he was saying the opposite.

Firm = Seems fast
Soft = Seems not so fast

Yah, what I meant to say was hard seats making it feel faster doesn't make sense to me, the 04' with harder seats than my 00' feels much slower when it actually isn't. Next time thumper, read what I mean, not what I type. :lol:

The Spark Plug Problem

Does anyone know if Ford has changed anything to the 5.4 V8 in the 2006 modle year with the past problems with the spark plugs2004-2005 ? Did they redesign the heads or what? :confused:
