I got my LT handles in today and am going to have to paint them. I wanted to ask those who have painted them, how much did you take apart to paint? I was going to just take the chrome strap off, but I think it needs to be taken off of the backing plate. If I take the backing plate off, can I reuse the retaining clips??

 

I painted mine and all I took out was the handles. I actually have a how-to in my gallery on how to remove these if you can't figure it out (it's pretty easy). I also took the keypad off of the driver's handle. I did not take the backing off though, I saw no need for that. Mine looked like this when I got them finished.

 

i agree, no need to remove the backing plate. just pull the handles out, being careful not to break the plastic clip peice that holds them in. i broke mine and ended up using the backing plate off of my old handle. good luck.
