I just bought a set of the new offset 2" Autosprings. I have not seen a set of the old style, but have a guess to offer that may help you. The design of the new AS is such that they actually relocate the top of the spring assembly to allow more room for uninterrupted compression. The mounting holes on one plate of the autospring do not line up with the studs on the other plate. Therefore; you get your offset.

I'm not sure if the wording of this will help or not.

Looks to me like the "old" style(which I have the 2" version) has all three bolt equally spaced from the center hole. On the "new" style, the bolts "favor" one side( they're off set). Go to www.autospringcorp.com and you'll see what I mean.
