Thumbs up Hollow sounding Doors.

I just traded my 02 in and got a new 05 FX4 and the first thing I noticed is how Hollow and tinney the doors sound when you close them. I called ford and got no response. Has anyone got any suggestions on a sound deadener ? Has anyone else noticed how cheap the doors sound when closing them ? Other than this the truck is great.
Thanks for any help you may send my way.

Really.

Who did you call, and what kind of response were you expecting?

I traded a 02 Screw for an 05 Screw also. I can say that I did notice it too, but I didn't think it was anything big. The rear doors on the 05 is the big difference.

I actually think the doors sound better on my 06 than they did on my 02.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

Who complains about the hollowness of the sound a door makes when it closes?

They probably thought you were a nut and ignored you in hopes that you would go away.

The front door of my 05 sound pretty much the same as my 98, but the back doors sound like they are made out of a beer can. At least they don't leak air like the ones in my brother's Cheby.

Second Skin Damplifier. 2-3 layers on both sides of the inner door skin and the inside of the outer door skin.

Dynomat the inside of the door. I did all four doors when I had my stereo installed. I noticed a difference in weight and they now close with a solid thud.

Hollow sounding doors

I talked to a Service Rep. I called the number in the front of the Owners manual. I guess I expected them to say take it to the dealer and maybe they could spray undercoating or something in the doors. The actual door fit is great, but pull out the door handle without actually opening it and let it go and see if you don't hear a ringing sound when you let it go . Better yet just rap on the outside of your door and see if it doesn't sound Hollow. I worked for Ford for over 30 yrs and Built F150's and know first hand that they did away with sound deadeners in the doors to save about 10 cents a unit. When you pay 30k to 40k for a car or truck it should sound solid not hollow.
I was wondering if anyone Knows of a after market sound deadener ?
Thanks

Maybe you didn't see it the first time. Second Skin Damplifier is butyl based so it doesn't smell horrible.

do you have a screw or a scab? when you close the door on a scab it closes on the rear half door wich isnt a great support which might make it feel funny.
