Any tips on first mods? What bed liner do you recommend - I am not thrilled with the idea of spraying one on. Also, any tips on lowering this thing 2-3"

Thanks

First of all, tell that guy thats parked behind you not to get so close to your new ride. My first install was the FM exhaust and K&N intake. Gotta love the rumble. Next install will be the XCAL 2. I'd suggest biting the bullet and getting in on the group buy that is going on with the Xcal 2 from Mike Troyer. (See GROUP BUY in forums. Congrats man. I got mine at Christmas. I know what your feeling. Go with power first!! Welcome aboard.

Nice looking truck. Level it first because it's cheap and really makes them look better. Then do something with those wheels and tires !
After that it's all gravy.

Well I do have aftermarket lock actuators with an alarm system but in my opinion these actuators are big and strong and I have no reason at all to not rely on them. The actuators themselves are Tesor and the alarm system is Crimestopper and I picked it all up on ebay for less than $60. I also originally did the aftermarket universal power window kit for around $75 and it worked but I wasnt impressed with the speed and the cheap install brackets and such so I recently ordered the complete factory window regulators and motors from genuine-ford-parts.com for $200. If you do want to do the locks though I have pictures and theres ALOT of info on the subject on this forum and theres always someone to help you out if you still have questions. This forum rocks!

Too bad you don't have the fog lights though....Ford always trying to save money. I haven't seen a '06 STX with 'em yet.

I like the color, great looking truck. Is it a 4x4? What other options did you go for?

Ford trying to save money? Fog lights are an option you pay for.

Haha, no worries that is actually my dead 1989 F150 and what perpetuated the buy of the new 06. The '89 actually sold the next day, so it's no longer an eye sore in the front yard. Some of you may recognize it as it is the "Big Ugly Work Truck" project on http://www.fordmuscle.com

oh options...
My must haves were the DSG color, super cab, 5.5'short bed...133" wheel base. This put me in the STX since the XLT supercabs all have 6.5' beds or greater. I wanted a 4x2

I also had to have a tow package and would have liked 3.73 with the traction lock.

So basically all they could find in california for a 133" DSG STX was this combo:

tow package
captains chairs
6CD changer
chrome wheels

So I'll have to get the gears done aftermarket.

Congrats on the new truck. I would level it, exhaust, then new wheels/ tires. The mods never stop.

I have the plastic bed liner. It works well but the only problem is that it might rust out over time. Nice looking truck tho

LMFAO! I thought all '05 STX's had the fog lights standard. I have only seen '06's with out 'em.

BTW, what did you do with your stock rims and what kind were they?

Long live the STX!

Ford is not 'trying to save money' on the fog lights. They are an option that Ford makes money on. They don't come free on an STX.

On my window sticker on my 2004 STX the price is listed as 140 bucks. Since they cost Ford very little that would be mostly profit.

They came part of a package on my STX (SRW, carpet, carpeted mats, fog lamps), that the dealer threw in on my truck.

I have yet to need the fog lamps.

But they do look nice at dusk.

Chris
