Minimum miles before modding?

Guys, I did the exhaust right at 1000 miles and I am wondering how long I should wait before adding a programmer or other mods such as a cold air kit? I have heard everything from ".just wait a couple hundred miles to insure there are no requisite trips to the dealer", to "wait at least 5K miles before adding a chip / programmer". Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I plugged the Edge in at 995m...No regrets so far.

I've never waited for mods on my vehicles. Both of my mustangs had to be ordered and they where tuned within the 100-500 mile range along with full exhaust on the 01 GT Vert.

Especially my bikes get all of the goodies before I leave the shop or when the reach my front door when the FedEx guy shows up. So far my last two bikes have had zero problems with mods from day one.

I say start modding as soon as you pull out of the dealership.

Great feedback guys. It sounds like no one is a believer in the "wait X miles before you chip it" philosophy...which is good to hear given that my (Generic Brand) power programmer is on its way.

(The name of the programmer will be withheld to prevent yet another raging internet debate from breaking out in a random thread)

When my wife starts speaking to me again, I am going to tell her that I am going to take a break from mod spending for a while...lights, light bar, exhaust, window tinting and programmer are enough for one week. Cold air intake and Tonneau will just have to wait a week or so...then I am DONE (right).

I went 6k before I did any major mods. I tow a travel trailer and wanted to make sure everything was broken in good and working well before I started messing around with things.
