update on h13 silverstars

hey my girl fround this on the 06 mustang forum

Here is a reply I received from Sylvania re: Silverstar's in H13:

Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your inquiry. Part H13, also known as 9008, is not currently available in a SilverStar upgrade. We have received many requests for this part in a SilverStar upgrade, but we were unable to develop this part in a SilverStar until just recently. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) wrote into the original specification for this part that the glass capsule portion of the lamp must remain a clear quartz glass. Part of upgrading a part to SilverStar is coating the capsule with an amethyst colored enamel. NHTSA had specified that we could not do that to this part. We appealed this standard through NHTSA, resulting in a change in the wording, allowing us to finally offer a SilverStar upgrade for this part, but this part is still under development. We are hoping to launch this part sometime in the late fall to early winter timeframe.

so those of you that want them will hopefully be able to get them

I did an internet search and the ONLY place I could find H13ST mentioned was on different forums. Ford truck, Dodge, Mustang and others. All asking then same thing. When and where.

I have the XVs since the STs weren't available and they are definitely better than the OE lights. If I were to give a percentage, I would say 10% better.

Doesn't the XV vs ST just mean a difference in the connector? I.e. ST is straight connector?

There is no difference in the connections. XV = XtraVision, ST = SilverSTar. Both are exact replacements for OE bulbs. I have STs for my Fogs and front turn signals. XV for my headlights.

I e-mailed them again and got this reply:

Good Morning Mr. Darst,
Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your inquiry. Part

part in a SilverStar upgrade, but we were unable to begin developing
this part in a SilverStar upgrade until just recently. The National

us to finally offer a SilverStar upgrade for this part, but this part is
still under development. We are hoping to launch this part sometime in
the late fall to early winter timeframe. Shortly after the release of
this part, you should be able to find it at most large auto parts
stores. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly if you have any
other questions or require further assistance.

i ran the silverstars in my ranger and absolutely loved them. Since they don't make them in the H13, (yet) i threw in the Sylvania Xtravision, and can't believe how incredibly bright they are. I may cave for the silverstars, but for now, the xtravision do the trick

(without spending the $$$ on the HID conversion)
