Have an 06 King Ranch
Not that happy with the 5.4 motor in terms of pep. Our local O Rielly
guy recommended a KN cold air and a Flowmaster muffler. Well I did
this on my 02 Avalanche and to tell the truth I didnt notice that much
different. Since the Ford is a different OHC motor maybe it would
help. So thought would post and see what recommendations you
all have. Also dont want to go the dual out the back just keep
the single outlet, does this affect anything besides looks.
If do the flowmasters would do a 50's series like did on the chevy
40 might be too loud

Had borla catbacks - SIDO - on the 05, deep quite rumble at idle, nice deep throaty sound at WOT. Actually same part number as for the 05 stang. Have magnaflow SIDO catback setup on the 06, definately louder all around. I prefer the mag's, more truck appropriate sound and tuck up under truck nicer.... Also , one comment on fit from my trucks, if you have a vibe dampener hanging off the left leaf, the magnaflows SIDO left tail pipe won't fit, it runs right through where the dampener bolts up, the borla tails have a much wider exit path and you would have no problems.

There are a few intake/tuner combo options discussed throughout this site, all will give you performance increases you can feel.
Thanks for the tip. I been told more than once the stock exhaust on
most vehicles today are pretty efficient. On my new vette did a
cold air induction and Corsa exhaust. Even on that its hard to say
hey what a difference, claim is a 30hp bump.
Going to dig further into the intake and tuner combos. Only
disappointment in the F150, just doesnt seem to get out of
its own way sometimes.

You really need a tuner. The tunre wil allow you to reprogram shift points, and just about everything else. It'll really wake your truck up. I'm saving up for mine!
Also check out Troyer Performance. They sell packages that include intake, exhaust, and a tuner with custom tunes for your truck. May be a good way to look. I believe the kit will run you about a grand for all three components. --DIY
