My fuel milage with Edge..........

I thought I would post regarding my past 6000 miles with the Edge. I'm very happy with level 2, and 91 fuel. I have been getting a consistent 14/15 around town, and 17/19 highway. I took a trip up the coast last weekend and went 574 miles. I was cruising between 70 and 80 on the freeway, and did about 20% surface streets w/traffic. I averaged 18.9 mpg overall........I'm pleased with both the driveability, and the milage.

5.4 Edge
3.73 LS
Bilsteins
Rear swaybar
Akebono ProActs F&R

I have had similar results. I run the level 3 with 93 octane and the savings over stock with 87 more than pays the extra 20 cents a gallon.

I tried level 2 about 10 miles, then went back to level 3. It is just too much fun.

Ive been doing a lot of reading on the Edge, and I want one, but I was wondering about mileage. Glad I saw this thread. But I get that mileage now, and my truck is stock not counting my magnaflow.

I have some thinking to do.

The Edge increased my mileage about 1/2 mile per gallon. Not enough to give it much thought. However, that is with me jumping on it a lot more often, so I assume I could do better if that were my goal.

I had contemplated the Edge at one time, but only for a MPG increase. I could care less about HP increase (got the Stang for fun). I just couldn't come to grips with paying extra for premium fuel to get any MPG gain. Then factor in the $300 for the part and instead of calling it a wash (in terms of MPG, not HP) it's actually a loss in pure monetary terms.

Although I've only run two tanks of gas through my truck on lvl 2 with 91 octane fuel, I haven't seen any improvement in gas mileage. In fact, I'd say it has gotten worse by about a .5 mpg. I drive about 85% highway and typical fuel mileage is around 14.5. I've got the 5.4, 3.73LS.

I have the 5.4, 3.55, 4x2 and get 19.2 to 19.4, driving too fast.

I'd pay the price all over again just for the driveability. I've had (and still have) a lot of fast cars and motorcycles.........this is a 6,000 lb truck, with a doggy state of tune. It needed the help!

Winter fuel is right around the corner -- if not already in place. Prepare to see a 1 to 4 MPG drop.

Just for the drivability???? WTH does that mean? Was there something wrong with your truck to begin with? Drivability issues are why I went with a stick in my Mustang (so I could drive it on the street). Drivability issues are having a vacuum reservoir so you can run power brakes. I can't possibly imagine what sort of drivability issues one would have on a new vehicle that would warrant the Edge. Please enlighten me.

I'd say throttle response, acceleration off the bottom, transmission shift points, both up and down, ability to pull a gear with out shifting in and out (on a hill or towing). The Edge, (Or any other re-programmer for that matter) optimizes the fuel and advance curves to enhance performance. The stock programming (Even with a reflash) is lethargic, and the shift points are vague, and too early (matter of taste). The Edge allows you to select a state of tune that suits your preferences.......
