Well, good luck with the decision, ultimately you need to do what you think will make you happy. I think all the brands have their own little "quirks". It is frustrating as hell when these trucks cost as much as they do, then have problems shortly after driving them off the lot. Then trying to find a decent service department is even worse. Once you purchase a new truck, the dealers typically give a shiot less about keeping the person happy. I agree, dodge trucks look good. It is just the mechanical reliability of them that makes me rule them out as a possible truck choice. With as many issues as you are having with your current truck, I would move onto something else as well.... Any new vehicle is going to depreciate VERY bad due to all the rebates, promotions, incentives, etc... Honestly, you would have to let a two year old or even one year old vehicle go for dirt cheap in order for me to buy it versus buying a new vehicle.

After all the things that have been repaired on my F150, if that's the only thing to be concerned about I'm already ahead of the game.

I too have been eye'n the Dodges as well, and my truck has been nothing but good to me, never been to the shop once. But that new Cummins, the 6.7 with the new 6 speed auto, that would REALLY fit the bill for what I like to do. I've put alot of weight in and behind my truck and it's time to step up, not that Ford is a step down but you CANNOT beat that Cummins.

That's another thing that got me looking at Dodge is they have a 5 speed auto, something Ford should seriously consider.

This year the Explorers have the 6 Speed (6r) tranny, can't be that hard to swap.

The Dodges are kinda slick. I'm a Ford guy though, all mine have done well. I'd like to have a Powerwagon though. How cool is a factory winch?

Good luck in whatever you do.

This is exactly why even if I switch brands I will still hang around, the people here are awesome.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm still a Ford guy, just trying to get some value for my dollar. I'm curious to see what Ford's going to do with the F150 for '08. If they want to stay #1 Ford has to start offering the things that are available from other makes.

It seems like you are trying really hard to justify this tradein by knocking the F-150, but you state, "This is my baby, best purchase I could have made. I almost can't wait for winter!" in your gallery title. Very odd.

Keep in mind that I made that gallery 9 months after I bought the truck. After 3 years of one repair after another how much would you put up with? I don't want to give up on Ford, but I can't bring myself to buy another one after all the issues I've had.

Sad truth to all this, comes down to one thing. If you get a good one or not. I'm a Ford guy, just picked up my latest F150 but have strayed a few times over the past 20 years. Always returning to the evil I know, Ford.

Best of luck with the Dodge Ram. Maybe your experience will be better then mine. I bailed on my 03 Ram 2500 Hemi 4x4 after only 8 months. Too many visits to the local Dodge stores, too many flashes to attempt to correct shifting issues, far too many electrical issues and people think Ford's get crappy fuel mileage. 8 - 9 mpg highway was normal.

I'm not trying to bad mouth Dodge trucks nor your choice to stray from Fords. Just pointing out that the grass isn't greener.

Not sure if you've noticed, but very few Dodge dealers have much of any 07 truck inventory. Per some Automotive publications, Dodge screwed up and built WAY too many 06's and are having a hell of a time trying to move this inventory. Might be useful to point this out to your friendly Dodge sales manager. They know the must push the 06's.

Best of luck on your search for a new truck.

True. And buying another new truck puts you in the same position once again.

Good luck with it.

My 3 year old baby is still my baby and I've beat the snot of it. Still looks great, runs great, and has handled everything I've thrown at it .

Good luck with the new truck...
