Noticed something interesting with my engine

just got home after joy riding 60 miles around town.

i've noticed that if i lightly press the pedal and only let the engine rpms get up to around 700 750 and hold it at those rpms the engine starts producing a distinct slapping sound.

goes away if i get it past 750 rpms. im just wondering if this is a tall tale sign of the cam phaser "tick" or if its something else..

it makes the slap sound weather its in park or drive at 750 rpms.

Are you sure you are not hearing the fuel injection tick that is normal? The cam phaser is louder, more of a knock.

idk though. would the injectors produce a louder sound as they inject more fuel?
