truck wont start!!! 2005 f150...

ok it has gotten below 0 around here and my truck is having a hard time starting. can leaving a sirius radio plugged in for 4 hours cause my truck battery to die with this cold weather? also the car dock i leave plugged in all the time (doest do anything unless i plug the actual radio into the car dock), could this drain my truck battery?

Extreme cold & heat can kill batteries on their own so who knows if your Sirius did it in?

Be more specific is it starting or not? How many times do you have to try? Does your emissions or wrench light come on?

Thumbs up Check the eye

CHeck the eye on the battery if it is red then the battery may be dead, I just got home after being gone for 4 months and my battery had the red eye I got it jumpstarted and took it to ford and they swaped it out under warranty, but otherwise your sirus being left on combind w/ xtreme cold will kill off your battery.
I am in North Dakota and our temp reached -36 last night who knows what it was with the wind chill, we have been having highs in the negatives and my new battery has been struggling.

I don't think it was the Sirius. My baby ended up dead this morning. I had to jump start it also. With windchills it is suppose to be about -27 to -37 degrees today...

Can anyone say "DAMN IT'S #$%^($ COLD OUT HERE!!!!"

I was in the snow in Yosemite the other day and I woke up to a dead truck as well. I couldn't even jump it, figured out the eye of positive cable was not getting enough contact with the battery posts. Go clean those off for a better connection.

I had to plug mine in when it was -32 F with NO windchill. It started right up.

I have the same situation I think... Really deep, long crank cycles, lights go pretty dim... It didn't start on me once in the last month during a real cold snap. Trip odometer gets reset, gauges take almost 10 seconds to acknowledge activity. I really should take my lazy rear end down the street to the dealer and have them test the battery.

If it isn't to much of a pain, take the battery in the house overnight. Obviously it stays warm and will start your truck right up in the morning. Batteries with the largest amount of cold cranking amps are a must in cold weather areas. Synthetic oil also helps.

I had to replace my battery in December. I didn't really have much warning that the battery was going out, other than the fact that the anti theft system kept going off! And for a a bad battery, it sure was loud!

The symptom was that if I opened the door and tried to start the truck, it would start for a split second, then it would shut off and the horn would start honking. After much trial and error, I figured out that if I got in and shut the door, it would start fine. I suspect that the anti theft system was not completely disarming with the door open. Anyway, new battery and the problems went away. But I sure was nervous for about a week every time I'd start it up!

I've never had any problems with my battery. This morning it was -23 according to the dash therm, but boy did it crank slow. If I had any drain on it over night, I could easy see it going dead on me. The engine also had this horrible squeel to it, mostly belt noise for a few seconds as well. Probably didn't get oil for about 10 sec. This cold weather is killer on everything.

I would like to have a plug in for my truck. That's why yours started up. You kept the motor warm.
