Having problems with my 4X4 system

Have an 06 Supercrew 4x4. My 4x4 has been giving me some grief. Sometimes when I am shifting it on the fly (approx 60km/h) into 4x4 it will clunk in. At times it is really slow to lock in if I engage it from a dead stop. And last night when I was driving it(was in 2wd) I heard this noise from the front end that got louder then heard a big clunk. Has anyone have a clue what may be wrong? Called the dealer but can't get it in for at least 3 days. Starting to think I may have gotten a lemon!!

You're not on pavement when you're doing this are you? Could possibly be a hub, couple hundred bucks to fix. Good luck, you're going to have to go into more detail than that though. The slow engagement is typical, especially in 4lo.

I am in muddy or icy conditions when I do this. Truck only has 32k on it so I hope warranty is going to cover this.

read your owners manual and see if that describes the delay and noise your hearing. It is very specific that the truck makes noise when it shifts into 4X4
