Looking for 5.4 Forged Pistons

I've done a real tiresome search on here for forged pistons on the new platform but have come up dry.

Either I'm really losing my touch searching or these could be hard to come by.

Anyone know where to pick up forged pistons and connecting rods for the 5.4??? I'm looking at adding nitrous and want to make sure the motor stays in one piece with 6 psi of boost.

You can get the pistons here---http://www.dssracing.com/proxpistons.htm

I would imagine any 5.4 forged rod could be used, I don't think they are specific for the 3v engines.

If you stick with a compression around stock or higher then the pistons will be specific to the 3V because of the valve reliefs. The 2v and 4v are different. All the major companies have them though mainly due to the mustang crowd but I would recommend CP.

Why do you want to spray when you are only using 6lbs? If you are going to rebuild your shortblock, boost to 17-18psi for pump. Then spray a 50shot or so past that..

Forged pistons for 3v 2005+ Mustangs will work for out trucks too. Same bore size.

If the bottom end is getting built, you won't stay at 6PSI long.

Thanks for the info. Is the stroke the same or do I have to mix and match?

I like the performance where it is, especially since I'm getting 16MPG in the city and 20MPG on the highway. More boost means higher octane fuel, something we really lack here in the West (91 Octane at high altitude). Sure, I could retard timing, but detonation always lurks in the shadows.

Adding forged internals allows me to run 6-8 psi boost safely like I currently am, but also run a 75-100 shot for short periods of time, which gives me the fun factor without all the headaches.

Rods for a Lightning F150 should be the same stroke.
Mustang rods are too short.

Lets talk about apples to apples.

The mustang piston will work fine. Stroke has very little to nothing to do with it. This isnt a stroker application with a shorter skirt or anything like that.

The rod for the 5.4 is going to be different than the rod for the 4.6, but as said before, I would not think that finding a forged rod that fits or could be machined to fit would work.

It would be best to make a quick phone call. It dpends on the wrist pin, etc. Its a shame that the mustang doesnt have a 5.4 3v.

ive been checking on forged internals lately too. i think a call to JDM would be helpful since they have worked on the 3v 5.4(Rafas truck)

i found these:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...9954959&rd=1,1

seems like a good deal if they would fit... and i would also like to know about the dished vs. flat top pistons etc.... i mean i know what the difference is, but id be curious to know what would be best for our trucks/applications. im just gonna keep getting more info...

You have to have pistons made for the 3v heads.. the lightnings have a 5.4, so the connecting rods are the same in our trucks and the Lightnings.

but yeah, call JDM or Troyer Performance and any of the supporting vendors on this website and they can steer you in the right direction.
