Super Cab vs. Super Crew

I'm looking to buy an F-150 down the road, but I can't make up my mind on a few things.

1. I like the idea of having 4 doors and 4 real seats in the back, but do not like the idea of a shorter bed. (I posted something about this recently - thanks for the good advice, but I need some more).

2. I like the idea of the full-size 8' bed, but an not crazy about the lack of space for passengers with the Super Cab.

My main question is, how bad is the passenger area in the Super Cab? Do any of you really carry passengers in these things?

Some of you may suggest getting an F-250 with 4 doors and a long bed, but that just might be too much truck for what I intend to use it for (daily driver/light hauler/tow vehicle for small trailer and light Jeep).

Thanks in advance

I'd personally go with a Super Crew. You'll love the extra room for passengers. Also, if you go with the short bed, just get the bed extender like I did. I think it's
a good compromise.

What about a SCrew with the 6.5 ft bed and a bed extender. I bet that config would work for ya. Good luck!

I ride share with a a guy that has the super cab. There is no comparison when it comes to the room difference. Get the Screw or you will regret it! Like mentioned above get the 6.5 w/ bed ext.

FYI, the rear seat is the exact SAME in both the scab and screw. There is only slightly more legroom in the screw.

If you need the 8' bed, get it. I have it, and wont do a short bed. You cant fit a motorcycle in it, a bed in it, some furniture, plywood, etc, unless you leave the gate open, which sucks

Go to a dealer and sit in the back of a SCab and then sit in the back of a SCrew. The Scab has 32.7 inches of leg room in back. The SCrew has 39.0 inches. The difference in leg room is like sitting in the rear seat of a Japanese compact in the SCab compared to sitting in the 2nd row seat of an Expedition. Even the third row seat in an Expedition has 5 inches more leg room than the SCab!

Unless you got something 8 foot long you're gonna haul in the bed all the time, you're gonna find a long bed more trouble than it's worth. We have the long bed SCrews at work and they are murder to get in and out of parking spots and around other vehicles.

I would second the notion that the extra 7" of room in the Screw is worth it. I have an Scab and --if I could do it all over again -- I would have got the SCrew. It's fine for little kids - not so great for adults.

I would pick an SCrew, 6.5' bed & extender.

Get the Screw. If you really need it, get the 6.5' bed. Had a Scab for 10 years and it was too small really fast.

I got the supercab specifically because of the need for the longer bed 6.5" and wanting LESS passenger room in the back. Having the smaller backseat means I can fit people in there but it doesn't look like a great option to them so I don't get asked to give alot of people rides.

Get the screw. I bought an 04 scab and thought I could get by with the smaller rear seat room. Wrong! I ended up trading it off after 18 months and getting the screw I should have gotten I the first place. If you need the longer bed get the 6.5' bed screw. I have the 5.5' bed with the extender and it does everything I need. For things I don't want to put in the bed, I have a small flatbed trailer. You might consider this option as well since trailers can be had pretty cheaply if you shop around.

if you dont have people riding in the back, get the scab.
Everyones saying more room for the screw, but the front doors are bigger on the scabs so its a little different up front. It will be cheaper too.

But if you need the passenger room and the bed room get the screw and the 6.5, or 5.5 with bed extender, but it will cost you more.

edit: me and my family once in a long while get all 5 in there, we honestly dont care. my dad and brother are 6 foot 5 too so we just move the front seats up a little. we get by.

i have an expedition now and everytime my friends and i go out, it ends up being my truck we take. so unless you have a family or like putting miles on your truck and burning gas, get the scab. incidentally, my dad has an 04 scab and for short trips around town, i'm perfectly comfortable in the back. i'm about 6' tall too.

There is more space in the crew hands down. The seats are the same, but there is more leg room.
The screw has one huge advantage over the scab. No parking lot shuffle.

When you park in a lot with cars on both sides of you, you open the front door, you open the back door. Now you are trapped. The rear passenger has to get really close to the front passenger in the area and close the back door. Now they can both get out and go on about their day.

I regret buying my 02 SD PSD with extended cab. Thats the only reason I sold it.
