JDM Engineering / Saleen Speedlab F-150's!!

Late this past February we recieved delivery of our 2007 Saleen S331 Sport Truck Pickup. Its built by Saleen in Troy and came out bumper #04 one of the first off the assembly line. Factory rated with 450 HP and 500 TQ at the engine producing only 4.5 psi boost. It has 23" chrome 7 spoke saleen wheels wrapped in BFgoodrich rubber. This truck is loaded down with goodies including a rockford fosgate subwoofer and amp, a boost and coolant temperature gauge assembly, Saleen custom interior seating and floormats, Saleen side exit exhaust.

The Day after we recieved the truck we took it down to the opening Fun Ford Weekend Event in Orlando Florida. It made the 1,000 mile trip down getting approximatley 11-12 miles to the gallon. The truck ran great, the suspension was smooth. Passing at 80-90 MPH in the truck is awesome!! The power output however was alot less than what we expected. In fact at the Hooters burn out contest we thought it would be a great idea to start off the burn out contest with it. We did one the first day we had it at the shop. But it was 30 degrees outside with very cold pavement. In Florida the truck didnt want to spin the tires over, it required the aid of a few drinks splashed under the tires to smoke the hides. We went to the track the following day and clicked off a few 15.0 sec 1/4 mile runs at about 90mph. Less than impressive by our standards again. So we finished the race and came home to start the modifications.

We first did a tune which ended up resulting in 16 Peak HP and over 30 through the midrange. Torque was also up 40 Ftlbs in the midrange. Throttle response and driveability followed better as well. We then added our cold air kit which we designed from existing other Ford vehicle Air box components and a billet 90deg adapter elbow. This allowed us to make more power using the larger mass air housing and the stock sensor. With the Saleen(stock) air box we were limited to about 350 HP with the stock sensor. It now sits in a larger 104 mm housing and will handle about 500 RWHP!! We were now able to add some boost and with just an additional 3 psi we reached the 390 Rear wheel HP mark. We looked next into the exhaust, which Saleen uses a big single Magnaflow muffler we created a twin per side muffler system that used a total of 4 Magnapack mufflers. We are still working on this for the perfect sound but it freed up an additional 20 HP Bringing the truck with final tuning to 410 RWHP!!!

We have towed a 6,000lb load to over 3 races with this setup and were able to run high 13's at every race. The extra power did show us that the two piece driveshaft will bend if you go into a wheel hop. So we took a set of our Gen 2 Lightning Traction bars and modified them for fit. This is something we hope to offer in the near future. We also have been testing a Valve body that we are working on and plan to release soon as well. The truck has been bumped to 9 psi boost now and has been a best of 13.2@105. Our ulitmate goal will be to Tow a 10,000 lb load to the track, Race it in the 12's, and keep total driveability and performance. With recent dynos showing a 441 RWHP we hope to hit the 12's soon, oh and by the way this is on the 23's!!

Check out some pics and videos of our truck and some customers, we are offering a full line of Saleen Parts for these trucks, ill be posting seperatley about these.

Not too shabby! Interested to see if you guys do come out with trac bars for these trucks since the only option currently is to fab some up. Also are the Saleen blowers available to the public yet-if they are im sure you will have them since you do so much of the Saleen blowers with the mustangs.

we are working on the bars and it wasnt much modifying other than shortening and modifying the brackets.

The blower kits are available we have installed a few and sold some mail order. They are nice and clean. We are doing alot of work with these as we have a saleen truck of our own to play with!!

We have brought it to FFW Orlando, Atlanta, Houston, and Louisianna. Its best ET posted on the Fun Ford Weekend website from our qualifying times is 13.49 in Louisianna in the sweltering heat. It went 13.22@104.6 on a nice low 60 degree no humidity day here in new jersey. We are getting 1.89 60's on the 23's i think because they are so big and heavy traction isnt too bad. Also the BFG rubber gets sticky if you heat them up.

We have it at 441 SAE RWHP.

Jim-are you making the 441 with mix gas or straight pump? I dont see why you wouldnt be able to hit 441 w/ an aggressive tune since the whipples are seeing 420-430 at 10psi w/ a 93 tune. I like the looks of that blower alot but cant justify that much $$$ especially if this magnacharger gets my screw in the 13's on 24's. Still nice to see these trucks finally going fast.

Well 13's on the magnacharger is good i met a guy in louisianna with one running 13.9-14.0 in a crew cab running about 410 RWHP. He had drag radials too.

I agree the looks of the saleen blower are nice because its stealth. We dont have an aggressive tune really, we tow with it too at that power level. Cruising through the mountains in tennessee we would pull 5-6 psi just part throttle up the hills.

Its not a canned tune its a custom tune so thats why we are probably making the power. We are out of pump and doing the RAFA twin pump setup that we did on Rafa26's truck, it'll handle 700 RWHP.
