flowmaster's new super44 muffler: my thoughts
ok so i just got the super44 SIDO installed today. i drove it around town for a bit and then i made a trip to monterey (1.5 hours) on the highway.
flowmaster decided to incorporate its "delta flow" technology on this new muffler, which is basically saying they tried to reduce interior resonance. people have complained about droning sounds from the flowmasters. around town, the super44 definitly has a little drone from about 1800rpm to 2300rpm on my 5.4 but to me it didnt seem that bad. on the highway, i was very impressed with it. with windows up at around 70mph i could barely notice it. accelerating to about 80 made it a little bit more noticeable, but not too bad at all. when the engine stresses on uphills though you can really hear it.
outside the truck, the "flowmaster tone" is very noticeable and quite loud, people will definitly hear you (flowmaster claims this is their most aggresive muffler ever). it sounds great, and i love it. stomping the gas and hitting higher in the rpm range sounds especially nice.
as far as low end torque loss, i didnt notice any. in fact, i noticed a small increase in power, but this may also be because i installed a K&N filtercharger intake last night...
unfortunately im not at home, im in monterey for the night but i will post pictures tomorrow and try to get a soundclip up sometime soon too.
for anyone considering this muffler, i say go for it i love it.
