Mileage

05 supercrew
Tonneau
Edge
5.4 w/3.55 gears
17" wheels & tires
16mpg around town 18+ on highway

The taller the tires the worst mine seems to do. With the 17" wheels mine feels like it has much better power and better mileage.

I feel you on this. When my truck was bone stock, the best I did was about 14.5 driving 50/50 and like a granny as well. I added a few mods, tonneau cover, and a custom tune and it dropped about 1 mpg. Since then, I've added a supercharger and it seemed to have picked up 1 mpg. I've never seen 16 mpg let alone 18 mpg...

As high as 20 mpg and as low as 10 mpg.

But my honest overall average is 13.5 mpg.

This past week I took my brand new Lariat Crew 4x4 5.4L from Phoenix to San Diego, about 370 miles each way. Gassed up in Phoenix, immediately got on the freeway and didn't stop until San Diego. Trip computer showed a peak of 18 mpg but ended with an average of 17. Did the same for the trip back but had a final mpg of 16.4, probably a little lower due to fighting some pretty good quartering head winds a lot of the way back. This was all without a tonneau cover at average speeds of 75 to 80. I ordered an Extang Tuff Tonno III but it didn't arrive until I had left for the trip.

I have it installed now so I'll be checking for any mileage change with it on. By the way, does anybody have a problem with this model of tonneau, or any model, not being real taut? While driving down the freeway at 70-80 I'm seeing a lot of sag and movement from the wind. This is my first tonneau and was wondering if this is normal.

2007 Lariat 4x2 w/ 3.55 LSD and the stock 18" wheels/tires, and a soft cover. I get 15-16 in town, and up to 21 on the highway (that's at 65mph). When I get up to 80-85mph, I tend to average out to 18.5-19.0 mpg depending on the conditions...

I get just over 17 on highway trips (from NC to VA and back), and around 12-13 around town. I have not seen mine get much over 17, ever, no matter how I drive.

These things are gas hogs, no way around it. Although, they are better than the '88 Jeep Wrangler I used to have. I was happy when I got anything above 10 mpg!!

hey I am just about to get my licence in a little over a month and would like some help on deciding if a truck is right for me. I have narrowed it down to either an 06 or 07 XLT supercrew FX4 5.5 ft bed. I was wondering what the gas mileage is for this truck. I am mostly going to do rural city driving. So i would say about 80/20 city to highway driving. Could you guys give me some information on what your average gas mileage is for this kind of driving?

This time of year, im in the single digits MPG wise, cause when its cold and snowing I just leave the truck running pretty much all day while working cause where in and out of the truck all day.

'04 5.4
4x4
straight pipe with factory cats
'gotts' mod
3.73
really heavy 295/70 18 Trail Grapplers
Bakflip G2 cover
level kit
bug shield

I think the last two items on that list do the least for mileage.

Even at almost 105,000 miles I average 13.5 in town and between 14.5 and 17 highway depending on the terrain.
