An Open Letter to FoMoCo

Got a letter from you today offering me a "Last" chance to purchase an extended warranty on my 05 F150. Yeah, my 3 year/36,000 miles will run out in the next year. Tell you what Henry, I've got a better idea. How about offering a better warranty from the get go. If you continue to rest on your laurels I see more bad news in your future.

I'm guessing this is the first Ford you've owned in the last 40 years that came with a warranty, or it just took you 40 years to form a formal complaint.

I got one of those about two weeks ago. They wanted to extend my warranty from the original 3/36 to 5/100.

I thought about calling them and asking if they could offer anything batter. I've owned my truck since September of 05 and only have 134,000 miles on it--could they just warranty it for the three or five years? I figure by the time I've owned the truck five years, it will only have about 375K...

My dealer upgraded my warranty to 5yrs/60k miles for free, just before the words, "I want the extended warranty", were about to cross my lips. I actually smiled to a salesman.. lol

Maybe because I was able to pay cash for the truck, I don't know.

Ford HAS to start matching the Chevy, Dodge warranties.

And do any of y'all get letters, messages on your answering machines from these 3rd party warranty sellers? I get letters at least every two weeks, phone calls about 3 times a WEEK.

The messages on my answering machine are sooooo dire.. "Your factory warranty is about to EXPIRE!! You MUST PROTECT YOURSELF!, etc., etc... "

LOL

Two questions.

1) If you've been devoted to Ford for 40 years, why didn't you ever have a problem with their warranty in the past?

2) If you're so "devoted" to Ford, why do you have 454 in your user name?

That is not an engine but a cartridge, .454 not 454 C.I., the Casull is the telling part

Ford powertrain warranty is 5yr/60k now, that's what came with my 06. I believe that GM is also powertrain only, 5yr/100k. The Dodge warranty is a joke in this day and age since it is not transferrable, its just a gimmick.

Of course, I think Ford should up the bumper to bumper to 4yr/48k.
