From 17's to 18's question

My question is this...I have a 06 supercrew XLT that has the 17in wheels on it. I plan on buying the 18in rims that come on the new FX2's. Will one inch throw my speed off and by how much. Any one else just go up an inch? What was your input? Thanks!

It's going to make your speedometer closer to the "real" speed. Most speedometers in these trucks are about 3 mph off. But regardless that 1/2-1" won't throw it off enough to make a difference. . unless you want to use it as an excuse to get a custom tuned Xcal2!

Actually the size of the rim is irrelevant...its the size of the tire that matters. A 24in rim with a 32in tire is the same to your speedo as a 15in wheel with a 32in tire.

No kidding. I didn't realize he was talking about the one inch as in the wheel size. I thought he was talking about 1" taller whee/tire package. I'm glad you brought this up . .

Sorry for the poor info. Tire wise I'm going from 255/65/17 to 265/60/18. Thanks!

My suggestion would be to buy my stock FX4 275/65/18 Goodyear Wrangler ATS - since they're preventing me from garaging my truck.
