4x4

i had the front wheel of my 4x4 off the ground and the front drive shaft turns with the tire.is this normal with it not in 4 wheel drive?
thanks for any info

If you did this with the engine off, yes. If engine on and not in 4x4, no. The IWE's (hubs) have a default of locked with no vacuum. Once the engine is started, vacuum is sent to the IWE and it is unlocked.

I think you will the axle turns regardless because the lock is in the center and the axle and hub always turn together.

yes thats why we get worse MPG then a 2wd!!

you know i dont think the wieght is even that big of a deal well i suppose the T-case is pretty heavy but the front differential cant weigh more than 40lbs. i held the thing with one arm.

Not anymore. That was the 97-03 that had the center disconnect. The 04 up use IWE's.
