4.6 exhaust questions
Hey guys just had a couple of questions. First question is, do they make long tube headers for my truck? The second question is do they sell a y-pipe for my truck without the cats? I don't post much around here cause this web site and the people on it are very informative so I usually don't have to ask anything. I'm usually able to just use the search feature and find whatever i'm looking for but I can't find anything about long tube headers for my truck or a y-pipe without cats. Thanks guys!

check and see if you have 4 cats or 2. Trucks built in the early half of 04 had 4 cats, and later on were built with 2. both trucks put out the same HP numbers. Once the restriction is removed (the two rear cats, which aren't really cats at all, more like a muffler) you gain that much more HP because of unrestricted flow. The two rear 'cats' aren't monitored by any sensors, so you're not going to screw up emissions by removing them. You'll def. notice a more responsive pedal and a better tone once they're gone.
Past that, you could go to a high-flow cat from Magnaflow, and do an entire system, from the header back. Don't give in to temptation and get the shorty headers, the numbers aren't there, and the time and hassle of installing them isn't worth it. If you look through some of FatherFord's posts, the stock manifolds flow more and better than shortys.
