2007 Floor Shifter ****...

I am looking to swap out the plastic one in my Lariat for the leather wraped one in the Mark LT and was just wondering if anybody here has done this and how to go about takeing off the origonal and installing the new one?
For any one who is interested in doing this mod you can get the LT part from Tasca for $42.00 and it comes in black or tan leather.

The swap to an LT handle has been done before, it's a fairly straightforward swap, just one screw, on 07's anyway. The 04,5,6's had a different shifter design between the 150's and the LT's and in 07 ford put the same shifter tower in both, so now the LT handle bolts right in.

are you freakin kidding me? damn, one freakin year, one freakin year and i couldve done this. on the 04-06s, its extrememly hard and requires some dremeling if i remember correctly. but apparently the 07-08s its a piece of cake.

The Lt shifter is not new, it's the same on all LT's. Ford put the LT tower in the 150's in 07. The external appearence is the same on both, the difference is in the internal mechanism of the handle when you push the button. You can put a LT handle on a 150 tower, you just have to modify the internal workings of the handle. In 07, the towers are the same, so the LT handle is a simple bolt on.

My chrome cap does not want to come off, is it glued on? How hard do you have to pull on it as I don't want to damage anything internally.

I think you have to pry it off with a flat blade screwdriver or knife.

EDIT: DO NOT pry off chrome cap, no need to, you may break it.

Anyone have an extra chrome cap laying around? Mine's chipped and one of the clips that holds it on is busted....don't ask...something from the previous owner.

I have an '05 lariat.

Just email or PM and i'll paypal you a few bucks.

I just installed my LT shifter handle, the screw is under the button. It takes a T-15 torx bit. Put the shifter in L1, pull outward on the bottom of the button so you can get a small flat screwdriver in there and pop the button out, don't damage the button, you have to reuse it. Now remove screw and lift off handle,no need to pry off top cover. Slide new shifter on, replace screw, pop button into clip, your done.

Do you mean the shifter handle? I don't have a link, but I do have the part # for the black leather LT shifter handle.

5L3Z-7213-T

Just copy and paste into the search by part # on www.tascafordparts.com

When it asks for make, choose lincoln, cause the handle does not show up under ford.

This handle will not fit the 04-06's without modification. It's a bolt-on on 07-08's

Resurrected an old thread, I know, but....

I'm thinking of putting the whole shifter assembly (tower and ****) from an '05 into an '08. Should the tower and everything work in my truck? I'll need to buy all the linkage cables etc...are the cables interchangeable between '04-'08, or are they split into '04-'06 and '07-'08?

Any help would be great
