DJM install... Struts???

ok guys im about to go out and install my DJM drop. now the question is.... how do i safely remove the springs out of the front??? i have dealt with regular springs in multiple different vehicles but i have never messed with struts. i have looked at some people installing this kit on the internet and it seems as if when the front suspension is at full droop the tension on the spring/strut assembly is relieved??? im just thinking to myself that cant be right. they must have skipped a step. sooo

how should i remove the spring/strut assembly from the lower control arm safely???

Rent a spring compressor. That's the only safe way.

The strut comes out of the truck in one piece, shock and spring together. Then use a spring compressor you can safely remove the retaining nut and disassemble the strut.

To remove the entire coilover assembly? Yes.

To remove the struts from the coilover assembly you'll need a spring compressor.

Edit: Stealth beat me to it.

Don't you still need to take the coilover apart? Or are you getting a whole new coilover? If you have to take apart the coilover than the only smart way to do is to rent a spring compressor or buy one. I was able to buy one super cheap and I've used it probably 10 times since than so it's paid off.

on the DJM drop kit you dont replace the spring. you only replace the lower control arm. the LCA has the 2 inch drop engineered into it so you dont get a harsh ride. you basically get the factory ride just lower.

Gotcha, so all you need to do is remove the bolt holding the LCA to the coilover. The coilover will stay in place from the upper mount.
