The 5.4 may not be a hotrod but mine ran side by side with my cousin's 06 5.3 chevy equally modded and same chassis configuration from a 30mph role till we stopped at 110 so the Ford isn't as bad as people think! Not trying to sound like an ahole but if ya'll aren't happy with the 5.4 then why don't you buy a Hemi or a Chevy?

I've got both in the driveway. A 300 HP 5.4 3v and the 325 HP 5.7 Hemi
side by side, the 5.4 is a better motor. The 5.7 runs like a raped ape, but only when you rev it up high (4,500 + RPM). Down low it falls on it's face at first.
You would think so, but there are alot of people on here who expect a racetruck from their F-150
right on the money there. I've driven all of them but the new 5.7 Tundra...I'll take my 300 hp 5.4 any day

I agree with Tylus, high end horsepower is fun, but not worth a shi* in a truck. Been in chevys, dodges, titans, tundras and while fast for what they are, they still suck in comparison to a car for speed (go buy a mustang, or even the new challenger or any car built for speed, as those will actually throw you in your seat ) and would take my F-150 every time (which by the way has no problem getting up to speed and I never have to go above 2000-2250). Low end torque is where it's at in a truck, weather you're towing, hauling or even off-roading and Ford does it better then anyone else in that department. Ford, also, has the best payload and towing in its class and they didn't get there by shooting for the fastest 0-60 times or highest (useless) horsepower. Wanna go semi-fast, get anyone of the POS half-ton trucks on the market. Want the most capable truck available, buy an F-150

Wow! What started out as sharing a joke, has turned into a fairly deep look into truck engines. My truck is used for transportation alot, but it is used for towing my antique tractor several times a year. Properly equipped, Ford has always been more than adequate for my needs. The torque has been great for getting my loaded trailer going. Thanks for all the comments guys. I was so glad I came back to a Ford because I have had a few in the past and loved them, plus coming back to the forums.

What the heck kind of roads are you guys driving on tho where you need the truck to be a lot quicker? I drive mine everyday, and its plenty fast enough. Let of the brake and push the gas pedal, and it goes. Need it to go faster, push the pedal farther. If it takes our trucks a second or two longer to get to 60mph, is it that big of a deal?
