Need for gear install?

I'm interested in getting 4.56 gears installed in my 06 4x4 5.4L. Do I have the 9.75" rear and 8.8" reverse cut front? If I go with 4.56 do I have to get a new carrier or something or will the go right in? Do I need any special parts or just an install kit? Summit has Motive gears at a good price, but is there really a downside to going with Motive and not Yukon. Yukon are really expensive considering I have to do front and rear. I'm going to have a shop install them. I've never messed with differentials. Thanks for any help.

oh, I just have a 2.5" leveling kit and will have 325/60/18's on 18x10's next week. I mainly want the gears to add some punch to the heavy supercrew. I don't do much towing or offroading. Rarely go on the highway. Should I go with 4.56 or something different? I want to gain some SOTP feeling. I have 3.73 stock so I figured 4.10's probably wouldn't feel much different.

I've been considering the same thing...going up to 4:56's from the 3:73 but just haven't been willing to drop the $$$ yet. I'm running stock tires and rims though and know that it will up the rpms but since my normal drive is usually half freeway and half back roads...not sure how it will affect driveability. The truck is no longer my daily driver since I bought a car to drive to work...truck is just for fun and work now. I know for sure that if you have the 5.4L that you have the 9" rear end...the rest I'm not all that keen on but there's many guys on here that know all the details. This is a great site for info on these trucks...many knowledgeable people here.

I have an 07 FX4 and it has the 9.75 and 8.8 reverse front. I just did the 4.56 swap from 3.55's and the only thing I had to get were the gears, fluid and master install kits for both front and back.

Having the right tools helps A LOT,

-gear marking compound
-hydraulic press
-mallets/dead blow hammer/hammer
-dial gauge

does patience count too?
