silverbullet- glad to hear you are ok and everything worked out. I had an 03 Chevy just like the one you bought right before I got the F 150, and I'm sure you will be pretty happy with it. A lot of guys will knock you for it on here, but there were some great things about that truck, especially the 5.3, I don't care what they say, it has more snort and better mileage than the 5.4. Good luck!

I honestly think those old body style Chevy's are ugly. I'm sorry to hear you left Ford.

I looked along time before buying mine. A lot of that time was spent on Ebay. I saved a seller in Texas that was way below book and everyone else for that matter. I still look to see what he has every now and then. He's no longer way below book. He's below but not WAY below.

OP what did you end up giving for the Silverado? 2wd isn't it?

I forgot to mention that was one of the major factors for the purchase, it was a private seller in the area that took care of it but had to sell. I bought it for $11k, and considering the condition of the truck and the Z71 LS trim level is a fairly good price. The owner also did a lot of detail work/mods like paint matched door handles, updated taillights, updated lower valance, Silverado SS gauge cluster, etc. So really I had a chance to get a 4x4 with lower miles for a much better price than with a 05-07 F150.

I'm sorry, it was just my opinion. If you dig it, that's awesome. Either way I'm glad everything worked out for you. Remember, this is a Ford forum and you bought a Chevy haha.

I also love the XL, I got it for the stick shift. Very fun to drive!

Sorry man, I was just kidding. Actually I was just updating the thread and letting everyone know it turned out ok. I'm a long time Ford owner, and still a Ford owner...still got my 88 Tbird

Best of 12.11 @ 114mph in the 1/4

And my previous F150 before my 2005...

Say it any so!!! You bought a Chevy?!?!

J/K, the 5.3L's are good little motors. I have alot of buddies that are Chevy guys and all but 1 has loved their 5.3's. Almost all of them have up graded to 3/4tons either Duramax's or 6.0L gassers, and all of them that got 6.0L wish that they would have kept their 1/2tons with 5.3L's. Being that they didn't need a 3/4 ton, just wanted one and also because they gave up a 5.3 that was getting 17-18mpg and have 6.0L that is lucky to get 13 running empty most are averaging 11-12 mpg.

I was going to say something about being a Manual wannabe, but I didn't want to insult him being that he is fairly new....

Thats a good looking chevy. I have no problems with chevrolets, they make a pretty quality product, and they are usually very comfortable. If you bought a dodge or a toyota, my tone in this post may have been a little different though

I will not be adding stacks. Every vehicle I've owned had a manual transmission. If you wish to give me **** about that, so be it.

But in all honesty, yes, I stumbled upon this site, saw another dude with a stick shift F150 and went out and bought one so I could be like him.
