Hella head lights = disappointment.

Sorry for the second post but I figured this would get more traffic in the 04-08 forum and help save some members some serious frustration!!!

I noticed I was having condensation problems lately and wanted to fix the problem before it really started to rain. Yesterday, I ran a new bead of silicone around my Hella's and also made sure the black rubber gasket was seated correctly around my h13's bulbs. I also dried out the housings with a hairdryer to rid any condensation.

If you look at the picture below, this is from one rainy day of driving. 20 miles on the freeway results in this?

I'm ready to throw these headlights into the fire pit.

I'm going to try to get Hella on the phone again tomorrow. Today I was on hold for around an hour fifteen and I could not wait anymore. I have e-mail and received a canned responce about new headlights being sent out in January. I guess I missed the list....

I ran into the same problem...it only ever happened on the passenger side headlight. I got sick of trying to seal them so i drilled a small hole to get all the water out the last time. I then sealed up the hole with silicon, and taped over the "vents" in the back and put the covers back on them. I have been condensation free since then.

Sorry to hear about your issues with Hella. I had a similar experience a while back and refuse to buy any of their products ever again.

You've got a recalled set.....

I am on my third set. This last set has been in for a 2 years with NO issues now. Hella will ship new ones to you and few days later put a call tag out to UPS. They took care of everything.

You'll want to tell them you may have been sold a "bad" or recalled set of lights. They leak when it rains or you wash it.

Contact:
Hella, Inc.
Peachtree City, GA USA
770.631.7500 phone
770.631.7575 fax

Just call them up.
Ask for Craig Wolfe.

Hope this helps.... he should take care of everythng. They have been great!

These "places" are clearing out old stock on these headlights... you need to get them replaced right off the shelf.

Thats what I did, I bought Harleys just for that reason. More money but worth every penny.

No problems with my KC style hellas. They shine so bright it's unbelievable. Just ask the guy that cut me off the other day. I blinded that bastard.

Sorry about your issue.

that's why I recommend people do the DIY Black heads...cost ya $10...and if you screw it up, then you can buy those expensive *** Hella/HD/FX2 ones

sorry the Hella are problems, but there have been enough complaints about them lately that I'm surprised anybody buys 'em

So far I've left the guy at Hella messages and also e-mailed. Nothing back yet.

The lights were a gift from the lady, so I can't blame the gift giver.

Have any of you stock-painted-light guys had any problems with paint peeling? This is the only reason I'm hesitant to try it. Plastic is not the easiest thing to keep paint on from my experience in the past.

Had mine painted for over a year now with zero problems. Last week I took them apart to add more black and they still looked great!
