Installed Chrome Tow Hooks!

Tonight, when I got home from work, my chrome tow Hooks arrived! So I installed them! Kind of a pain to do! had to take off my Go-Rhino Chrome push bar, remove front bumper, remove stock black tow hooks, intall new chrome tow hooks, re-install front bumper, line up & reinstall, upper & lower Valences+ lower hood supports! What a PITA! But it is done!...........Will try to get some pics up soon! By the way, you need two people to remove & install, & line up the bumper!.................PITA!...... Won't be doing that again anytime soon!........

What did you install these on? My chrome tow hooks were a simple bolt on operation - took about 20 minutes to remove the OEMs and add the chromes. (06 Lariat 4x4).

Why did you have to remove the bumper? My hooks just bolt on and off, two bolts in each one. (07 xlt 4x4)

that is the thing...the bumper doesn't have to come off

for a 4x2, the lower plastic thingy has to come off, but that is it

Oh Yeah, try it! When you loosen up the Tow Hooks & remove the bolts, they are held on by retaining clips, inside of the frame, with nuts welded to them, they move around once the bolts are removed! Being the F-150 is a fully boxed frame, you cannot hold the retaining clips in place, only way to hold them into place while tightening bolts is to remove front bumper, & access them from the opening in the front of the frame, with the bumper off!........Kapish!.......

Are these chrome tow hooks solid or just painted with crome paint? what about when you go to actually use them will the chrom wear off?

As long as you don't remove both bolts in the tow hook at the same time you can remove them very easily without losing the clip inside the frame or needing to remove the bumper. You made a lot more work for yourself than was needed.

see that black thing on the front of my truck in the sig pictures?

been in there 2 times and believe me, you can do it with the bumper installed easily

there is a small 3-4" access hole on both of the frame horns near where the bolts are. I was very carefull to not disturb the backing plate inside the frame, and was able to get my fingers inside that access hole for the 1 I accidently mis-aligned
