I am looking at accenting my truck in camo. I was thinking about a camo bugshield from Stampede and some camo striping from this place www.camo4u.com - I am wondering it anyone here as applied vinyl similar to this? How hard is it? SHould I pay someone to do it?

 

I think you should Not do it instead, that's just me though.

 

Do you plan on hiding your truck? Might as well paint it camo

 

I'm not a big fan of it on trucks. But I have used Camoclad which is a similar product to cover golf cart and other things. I don't know how much of an area your talking about but it's not too bad to deal with in small pieces and if your working on a mostly flat surface. Angles curves and corners can be a pain but not impossible. It mostly just takes time and carefully laying it down.

 

take it easy on him guys, he's a newbe. first of all, i would look into someone that has a dip tank. looks alot better and last 10X longer. There is a place, right up the road from where i live that does it. www.extremehydrographics.com . these are the people i use to do my 4-wheeler and gun stocks.

Go with the camo clad kit. All out I say. Make sure yours has the remote keyfob. Otherwise you'll never get home from your next hunting expedition.

 

Theres an F350 dump truck covered in real tree camo like that around here and its been like that for several years and it still looks ok.

 

Be sure you get a good quality vinyl. I have seen the cheaper stuff used and in pretty short order it fades or even turns purple.

I can personaly vouch for camoclad. I have had mine on for 3 years now. I was worried about longevity and how well it would stay adheared for long periods of time. Mine is 3 years old now. Very little has turned loose even with the regular application of water and mud. It hasn't faded at all and spends a large majority of it's time outside. Pictures look a tad faded but the first one is more in shadow than the second.

I think vehicle color plays a lot in pulling the camo off. I think it looks good on tan and dark green vehicles. Sometime black can look "ok". looks like trash on all other colors, including white. imho

It was quite easy to install. Just take your time.

My only gripe is the patterns that repeat and it's painfully obvious. Like a tree in the middle of the graphic. Ugg! I'd just like to get the stuff in flat black or dark gray.
