Trucks are meant to have 8 foot beds
Well, at the very least, a little bit of extra cab space and a 6 1/2..... but definately NOT a bunch of extra cab, and a dinky little 5 1/2ft bed.

PS, My 6 1/2ft bed holds my 7 1/2ft rods, the longest rods I use (diagonally) with no problem, so I'm fine. I've had my truck for a year now, and although I'm always hauling a bunch of fishing gear and such, in it, I've yet to need more than 6 1/2ft..... nor has my fiberglass bedcover ever needed to come off...... nor have I ever wished I had back seats.
After owning a truck (of one brand or the other) for 25 years, I knew "exactly" what setup would suit me best, and therfore, I've never had a second thought.

Really I think this is what it all comes down too.... Choosing the rig that works best for "you".

I have a 1/2 ton supercrew with 6-1/2 foot bed (instead of the usual 5.5 ft.). I'd post a pic on this thread if I could figure out how to do it. I do have some pics under my profile, though.

Never a problem, I always back in everywhere I park. I just don't pull into any drive-thrus, they're a real pain in the ars. You Can't haul full sheets of plywood or drywall and keep most of your tools on the truck at the same time with anything shorter. And I've seen idiots in the past lose a load with their tailgates down so they can haul said sheets of material. All I know is, I load my truck up with a lot of building supplies, so it's a must have for me.

So far no one else has posted another long box scab. There's gotta be someone else on this site with one.

Can I ask how this works out for you? I can barely fit my 7 foot catfish rod in my 6.5' corner to corner with about 2 inches to spare.

If someone would instruct me on how to post photos directly to threads, I'd post pics of my 6-1/2 foot bed S-cab.

hey! don't discriminate against the 5.5 footers... They work great for some people such as myself, I've carried pretty much everything in my truck from sheet rock to wood to 10 foot electrical pvc pipes. It's not my fault I fell in the love with my truck once I saw it
