I have 210,000 on my '04 5.4 3v. Been a great truck.

264K now on the 2004 Screw 5.4L 3V. Can you say "ROAD HAMMER".

Damn, that's some serious mileage for a truck of that model year. And I thought I drove a lot. Have any major repair done to it at all?

Add my trans to the 4R75E fail at about 150K. A good shop in the area that I had do a Ford reman swap for me said they see lots of these. Most seem to go to around 120K, some 80K-ish on the earlier side, 150K-ish on the higher side.

My tranny went out last week with 106,000 miles. I get it back today. Did your rebuild last at all?

Just had it done last week so we'll see... With the Ford reman warranty it's guaranteed to last at least 3 years in some way. Likely won't have the truck much past that so, at least for my purposes, all I need to know. I'm sure I'll have plenty of other stuff to deal with beyond that. My truck seems to have every damn problem listed on this forum. lol

122k on my '05 screw. I'm going to have to look and see what tranny I have!

No trans issues to date besides a few weeks ago when I was pulling a 5000 lb boat. It was shifting from 2nd to 3rd and I kinda gave it more gas before it shifted, so that may have cause this? not sure...

How are the bodies of your F150s? I hate the salt! Rear fenders are starting to peel a little (fender flares can fix this!), and i have a few small bubble rust spots starting at the rear passenger cab corner.

Mine is fine. It spent 16,000 miles in VA then came up to PA and is now at 123,000 miles, to be honest my frame isn't even that bad. Only problems I have is with the front bumper.

Going to make an appointment pretty soon to get it oiled. It helps tremendously during the winter.

I wouldn't put fender flares on if it were me, they seem to do more damage to the body. Plus, they don't really "fix" the problem, just buys you some more time before it's visible again.

Very true. I just hate rust! haha. Wisconsin sure dumps the salt on the roads for a good five months.

My '03 had the painted bumpers like your FX4, and I know what you mean about how those do in the winter. I love how the trucks look with painted bumpers, but I refuse to buy a truck that doesn't have the polished bumpers. The polished bumpers seem to last much longer.

Where do you take it for the 'oiling'? What kind of oil?

any of you guys with high mileage get out unscathed by the Cam Phaser problem? Im looking at trading my silverado for a 04 5.4 with 150,000 and trying to get some feedback if all trucks have the phaser problem

112K on my 2006 FX4 with the 5.4

At 110k my pinion gear went bad in my rear differential. Had to have it rebuilt. Replaced the axle bearings and the u-joints while I was at it. Also did a tranny pan drop and DIY flush. And did brakes all the way around. Oh, and new tires.

Now my tranny is starting to slip. It only does it when I am off throttle. It starts clunking like it is coming out of gear or something. Doesn't do it while on the gas and under power. Mostly when coasting at high speeds.

I want a new truck, but this one is paid for and I don't want another payment.

if you find a truck that has had motocraft oil and filters used on it for its life then you should be okay if you continue to run motocraft oil and filters. the problem with the phasers comes about when you use a crappy filter (fram) or conventional oil (more thick than semi senthetic motocraft oil, even if you keep the weight at 5w20). there are neumerous people on here with over 100k on their 04 trucks that have no phaser problems. if you want to be sure you wont hit that problem shoot for an 06+ truck. i myself have never read of a phaser going bad in the 06 and up trucks, whether people just take better care of them, or if theres not that many miles on most to show it yet, still somethign to consider. ford might have fixed that problem.

also if you get an 05 some have sticking injector problems.

My 04' has 54,5xx on it. Changed the plugs at 52k. Lost my overdrive at 54k, needed a new OD band and $800 later it's good as new. The guy at the shop that fixed my trans said he sees quite a few of our transmission through his shop. He also pressed in a new/improved sleeve for the servo piston (which is where the delay comes from when you shift from park-drive-reserve due to being worn out) and a new/improved gasket between the trans and transfer case. He also told me the 04's have the better of the 04-08 transmissions because the still have some of the same components from the pre-04's that were stronger.
