2004 f150 5.4 3v
I think I’ve posted here before. I have lots of vehicles so I split my miles among many vehicles....
i am still around the 260,000 mile mark on my f-150.
Its a 2004 f150 crew cab 4x4 lariat sunroof console black leather white exterior 5.4 3v.
original everything except (off top of head):
alternator not long ago.
batteries.
brakes.
lots of deer hits.
Lots of hail damage fixes.
a few people backed into me and lots of bumpers and tail gates.
Had a rubber track (for a compact track loader) come unbanded from pallet and unfolded through back glass tearing off headliner.
safelight guy who fixed back glass did something wrong is the rear glass motor never worked again. Haven’t looked to see why.
put plugs in myself twice.
when it was brand new the mystery of plug issue was new....dealer took off head and put in an insert the hard way. Wasn’t needed but they didn’t have the tool or know how at my small rural dealer. It was 2004 lol.
once had an exhaust manifold bolt break and dealer fixed.
when it was pretty new it always had a weird harmonic vibration at 87-95mph. I kept bitching and dealer put in a new rear end and it never fixed it. I gave up..never took it back. Haven’t had it that fast in a while to know!!
I just put in driver side window regulator myself. Had so much grit around cable it frayed...
passenger rear window regulator popped for no reason and had hardly been used. Easy change.
Lots of busted windshields.
map light bulb burned into overhead bezel where the switches for sunroof and rear sliding window resides. What caused it was I when I once towed a camper for a friend about 300 miles and the camper had its own battery that was backfeeding through the 4 way flat trailer wire harness. They were d()mb&sses.
i heard a jiggly pop in front end when hitting pot holes and put in a rack and pinion although it wasn’t needed. Then I put in ball joints although they looked new. Put on shocks. Wasn’t needed... but then realized it was lower control arm bushings. Still haven’t put those in!!! But I have them. Pops a lot. Drives straight and true though! Never wears tires.
once heard a weird minor whine about 100k ago. Thought it was tranny. Took to meet a friend who builds trannies. Got a quote.
Realized the $5.00 rear trans seal Leaks into transfer case. For a while I’d let out fluid from trans case and pour new back into tranny. Then it kinda stopped doing it. Then I checking it. Lol. Trans still never slips. Still going. So far...
ive noticed the 4x4 light on dash isn’t normal. I think I need a new transfer case solenoid. $100 on eBay or amazon. I need to get one.
rearcan corners just rusted through. I think my third brake like leaked it the drain tubes from sunroof fell back into rocker channels.. need to fix that.
might just buy composite cab corners.
i put a shift interlock switch in trans shifter. Fixed the “won’t come out of park issue” and fixed cruise control issues. I’m the famous guy who uploaded that to Youtube...
i think im gonna do the cam phasers, timing chain, oil pump job myself.
mine ticks. I have phasers unplugged! Truck is low on power with that unhooked!
i do change the oil but only when I think to do so. I miss lots but overall I generally change oil when I remember to.
i use whatever brand of oil matches specs. I go to bobistheoilguy to learn motor oil specs.
i buy so much oil for my caterpillars that I have to know Oil details....
i have changed tranny oil and filters a few times.
I own lots lots of heavy equipment, trucks, and tractors. I generally work on equipment daily and grew up in that business with my dad starting it.
ive learned how to be efficient on equipment and trucks maximizing lifespan.
i think I drive with no jerking or shock and sloppiness. I gently roll on the throttle. I never pound the dash switches and avoid pushing switches wearing off indicator marks. I never grip the steering wheel too tightly. I never dig my elbow into the console. I never slide out of the seat in a lazy fashion. I never let the trans hunt for gears.
a have a class a cdl license with hazmat, tanks, triple, doubles, and triples endorsement.
i guess that when you pay to buy, maintain and operate lots of machinery..,you prioritize efficiency and smoothness.
i think my timing chains have made it so long due to never shocking and pulsing the driveline.
I am milking this truck to the maximum!!!

My High Mileage Build
I have just over 193,000 on my 04. I'm running Raptor Suspension, 37" x 17" **** Cepeks/Coopers, Fiberwerx Fenders and Bedsides. Bumper coming hopefully before summer ends. Looking to go to a Blitzkrieg L/T Kit. It started as 4 wheel drive (not right now because new axles are crazy and plan to go to 2 wheel anyway). Also, going to be running Deaver Spring Under with 16" bypasses and bed cage. Full build to come. BTW I have done all of the install on the raptor suspension, fiberglass, wheels, tires, etc. Bought the truck with 141,000 so I have put 52,000 on it in three and a half years. High mileage build here.
